Will it sound okay if I say that I used to live in Asia for 5 years?

Guys, I'm sorry, I didn't want to hurt anyone here.
Of course I may become defensive when someone says that high-rise in country with earthquake is okay and, as a result, I point out to the huge problem they have in their own country. Romania is nice in some places, beautiful architecture and nature, but they don't respect gypsies (minority among them). When I said that Taiwan has lots of dirt - it is true, but I'm not blaming. It is better to spend money for cleaning than build "cool" buildings - just pointing out to the common sense.
It is just my opinion that high-rise almost always means insane.
Maybe my opinion will be understood at least by one influential person and it will save lives in the future.

Have you ever been Australia or New Zealand? It should be a model for Asia for building in low floor style, in my humble opinion.

Who on earth cares when its a well designed building made to withstand earthquakes and strong typhoons?!!?!?!?!? Ok it looks uguly but so what? The Facade is not a design hazard.

Some people are so ignorant.

I only hate buildings that are not well maintained properly and is a safety hazard. It is well built why hate?

You do not need to hate a person just because he/she is ugly.

While Taipei 101 is earthquake resistant, it doesn't mean that inside building everything will be become a mess after the next earthquake.

Taipei is not cool city, looks poor: lots of dirt and stuff like that.
This building is just a boasting, not just a common sense. The same for the rest of China - lots of boasting.

Don't create demand for insane developments and don't praise China for that, you will help to save lots of lives, because building like this one is just to impress you.

There's a difference between "hate" and "dislike", the most common expression is hate (no idea why) when you don't "agree, like, or find it attractive", you sound like your eye balls are about to pop up, chill out, not everyone agrees on the same thing, this thread is about that, pros and cons, everybody is allowed to participate, well versed on architecture or just a sympathizer.

I suggest you read more about the history of the place and as far as i'm concern, an independent nation should have the following criteria;
. identity and territories
. constitution and laws
. citizens
. government (legislative, executive, judicial)
. military
. currency, taxes, financial system, economy
. passport and custom
. diplomatic relations and treaties with other countries
. sovereignty

The ROC Taiwan ticks all those boxes and the people in Taiwan enjoy true democracy, and human rights where China does not. In fact Taiwan is a lot closer to Japan than it is to China.

Mate, have you ever been in South Korea or Japan?
I lived in Japan for 6 months and visited Seoul twice for vacation and i can tell you the difference is not that big, just that Japan is a lot more expensive than Taiwan and South Korea.

Really? If so you didn't learn and enjoy much from it especially respecting the people, language and its culture.
In fact it seems to me that you are very immature, ignorant and the biggest troll here on this thread so i will not be wasting my time responding to any of your posts from now on.

We have in Europe high-rise building, but not so many and not so tall.
I remember in my country when people protested against one high-rise building chanting that they don't want to become European Shanghai.

Second point, why you are not European guy, because you can't argue correctly. Europe is the set of countries, and not states. Every country has its own law, culture and etc. And it is up to every individual country to decide.
And believe me, for sure, it is not European culture and nothing more. Ah, yes, maybe we are not overpopulated also.

It will also look nice after the bridge will be detached with people inside.
Sometimes the beauty mixed with boasting kills...
Does it really matter where I am from? But I'm the one who can't argue correctly... still, I'm not arguing, I'm discussing (politely), so I hope you get to know the difference.

those points about culture, law and etc was actually my point. Take it down buddy, not every disagreement is an attack towards your believes.
