This is the place of former Joka terminus. It was the newest tram line, built in 1986, but closed in 2011 (so least lived also). Currently this route is partially replacing by metro, but, the work is not smooth. I don't know what will be the future? Route 37 served this route.

Haorha Bridge tram terminus, formerly was a junction. It was converted to a terminus in 1994, when tram service up to Haorha Station was stopped due to damage of Haorah Bridge. Route 11, 18, 20, 26 and 30 serve this terminus, formerly also by 32. the only terminus which is under a flyover.

Ladies and gentlemen, I'm presenting for you my new map for urbanrail.net, which is the map of Kolkata tram network. I know that routes number are missing, I know that there are some mistakes in terms of locations or stop names, so if you have comments, I would like to hear them:

Kolkata Metro’s Proposed Mominpur Station to be Discussed with Defense Officials Today
18 Nov 2015

As per a report from last week, discussions related to the construction (and existence) of the Mominpur station on Kolkata’s 16.72 km Joka – Esplanade line will finally and formally be held today between the state government’s Home Department and Defence authorities at a Civil Military Liasion Conference in Nabanna Bhavan.

As a reminder, the Defence Ministry had rejected plans to allow the construction of this station on a 2,500 sq m land parcel adjacent to the army’s Command Hospital due to security reasons. The Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL) & Rail India Technical and Economic Service (RITES) had estimated that this will be the most used station on the line, and without it, extending the line further north to Esplanade will not be viable as the distance between the two adjacent stations at Majerhat and Kidderpore will be nearly 3 km

Tram routes spared E-W Metro axe
Nov 25, 2015, 07.00 AM IST

KOLKATA: The tram network, the city's oldest automotive transit system that has shrunk substantially over the last few years, may have contracted further had not there been a concerted effort to save it while preparing a study for the East-West Metro project.

According to sources, large parcels of land were required at Dalhousie and Chowringhee for Mahakaran and Esplanade stations respectively. Going by the linear route, the project would have eaten into a large chunk of land in pos session of the Calcutta Tram Company (CTC). Had that been the case tram routes on Lenin Sarani, Kidderpore Road and BB Ganguly Street would have been abolished for at least next four years

This is an old photo of Esplanade terminus, probably before 1980. Here route 35 shown, which was closed in 2002. Look vary carefully that another tram track is looking a bit away, this was formerly route 24, 29, 30 etc, went directly straight towards Jatin Das Park via Planetorium. When metro world started, it was diverted through another place, and ultimately stopped in 1992. Now route 24, 29, 30 are going via Mominpur (since the closure of the direct line in 1982). I took route 35 many times in my childhood for Behala. Those two posts looing at a distance is still away, here now some volvo bus departs towards Durgapur, Asansol etc.

An abnormally overcrowded tram is running through Jawaharlal Nehru Road towards Jatin Das Park. Before oponing of present metro line, there was direct tram link between Esplanade & Jatin Das Park via Birla Planetoruim. Route 24, 29, 30, 32, served that route. When metro work started in 1980, the line was curtailed upto Birla Planetorium, and finally closed in 1992, whose routes were diverted via Wattganj This place has now Chowringhee Flyover and Park Street metro station. Note that people is riding on font side and on rooftop!!!!!!
