Well that depends. If they use cheap materials then yes it will be those things otherwise not. Generally with this type of architecture it really has to be done right and the developer has to be willing to spend money on details, etc otherwise it turns out as disney kitsch. This particular hotel is very vegasy but that's not necessarily a bad thing if that's its function. As long as it's done in high quality it shouldn't matter.

The new design is considered very handsome, yet the old one was a lot more impressive.

I don't check this thread too often, so I don't know if it has been mentioned already or not, but Adrian Smith is supposedly designing a 70-something story building at the entry of Burj Dubai.

Dubai never ceases to amaze. Those diagonal "cubes" jutting out from the side kind of ruin an otherwise graceful, organic design.

the curving on the side of the tower reminds me a bit on Ocean Heights 1
