Taj Mahal replica in Dubai - Taaj Arabia - to open in 2017
Taaj Arabia will be a 20-storey glass building, housing 350-room hotel

Dubai’s Taaj Arabia – a 20-storey glass structure inspired by India's Taj Mahal – will open for the public by early 2017, company Director told Emirates24|7.

“There has been a delay because we haven’t got certain approvals from Dubai Municipality. We are hopeful to getting them soon. We plan to starting construction by end-2014 and complete the work by end-2016,” company Director Arun Mehra told this website during CityscapeGlobal. The project was earlier planned to open early 2016.

“This is the first time that a huge glass structure is being built for a hotel in Dubai, which will have a banquet hall, retail and a night club at the basement. The design is quite unique and so there are a few challenges. We have worked with the municipality to incorporate a few changes and are optimistic that the project will be completed by 2016-end and open to public by early 2017.”

Taaj Arabia will be among the many new attractions that Dubai developers are building as the emirate gears up to host the Expo 2020 from October 2020 until April 2021, which will bring over 25 million visitors to the emirate.

Link Global plans a soft sales launch for the retail and residential components by year-end or early next year, Mehra said.

New projects worth billions unveiled at Cityscape
The 3-day Cityscape Global property exhibition begins today
By Parag Deulgaonkar
Published Sunday, September 21, 2014

The stage is set to make new project announcements in Dubai.

Developers have put in billions of dirhams into Dubai’s property market from early this year, but a wave of new projects, worth billions of dirhams, will be unveiled at the three-day Cityscape Global property exhibition, starting Sunday.

Union Properties, a Dubai Financial Market-listed developer, will unveil three projects worth Dh2.15 billion, with the major announcement being the launch of Dh1.1-billion The Vertex, a five-tower project, in MotorCity.

“We will be launching two towers of the five in The Vertex at Cityscape. The five towers will have 700 apartments in total,” Ahmad Khalaf Obaid Bin Touq Al Marri, General Manager, Union Properties, told Emirates 24|7.

“We always had plans to launch hi-rises in MotorCity, but the project was put on hold due to the global financial crisis. Now, we have decided to launch these towers. We are awaiting approvals from Dubai Municipality to start construction.”

Meraas beachfront development takes the spotlight at Cityscape

Dubai’s Meraas Holding took centre stage at Cityscape yesterday as its impressive beachfront development captured the attention of its competitors.

People from other stands were taking selfies at the architect model of La Mer, a touristic water- themed project.

Spanning across 9.5 million square feet, La Mer boasts a water park with its very own pirate ship and a roller coaster, in addition to two marinas to dock yachts for the young and wealthy.

Residential space is scattered alongside the beach, located not too far from Palm Jumeirah Island, in the form of low-rise apartment buildings at a total of 688 apartments and luxury villas.

A 160-room hotel is also on site to cater to the expected influx of tourists. New food and beverage franchises will be setting up shop here, marking their first entry into the emirate.

Construction is due to begin in the fourth quarter of this year.

Meraas did not provide details of the overall value of the project. Officials declined to comment when contacted by The National yesterday.

Dubai is developing its touristic and hospitality offerings amid ambitions to attract 20 million visitors in 2020.

I agree with you

they are making a too extensive city when there are lot of urban areas that are not finished.

Dubai is turning a city much bigger than it should be, and it can end like in Detroit if they don't stop on time

What's a good place to find updates for the Dubai Frame? I don't even find a thread in the local forums.
