Speaking of the An-124, I've heard occasional rumors that they want to restart production of the plane. The reason is simple: the demand for the type of cargo carrying capacity the An-124 offers--outsized cargo that can be easily rolled on and off the plane--is still very strong, and there may not be enough An-124's in commercial service to do this worldwide.

You are right. Indeed, such rumors did took place. Moreover, not only to restart production, but also to modernize engines and make it more fuel efficient.

Looks like Cubana will start Antonov AN-158 international operations from Northern Winter 2013/14 season to two routes... Details and schedules:

Havana – Cancun: effective 1 December 2013, Antonov An158 enters operation on this route. Overall operation increases from 1 to 2 daily

I'm not sure if the chevrons add to efficiency. They are just there to help lower noise levels. I am sure the GEnx & RR Trent 1000 actually copped a small fuel burn hit because of the chevrons for the sake of lower noise levels. They do look cool though!

True My point was that chevrons are one of the first steps to fuel efficiency strategy, but not that fuel efficient themselves

By the way, Antonov An-124-100M-150 has western avionics and increased payload.

Are there any shots of the cockpit of this bird?

Brisbane has been seeing a few AN-124's lately. We have had them in my home city of Townsville a few times as well, but not lately.

I have not heard anything about the AN-225 being banned from Australia. Though it has never visited here as far as I know.

I would love to visit Ukraine one day!

I read some feedbacks from Australian spotters regarding AN-124 visiting Australia and they as well mentioned that An-225 is banned from Australian airspace
