No more than a half. Almost all these planes were on long-term storage, but beginning in 2009 they began to restore and modernize them, although at a very slow rate (1-2 per year). BTW, the last one was put in service just a few days ago - on October 10.
Current situation with Ukraine might affect this process negatively though.

Thanks for the info. Do you know when the youngest An-124 was produced? Have any been built since the end of the Soviet Union?

Yes, the newest one was produced in 2004, it was the 17th plane assembled since 1991. 3 more planes are in the assembly line today, but their fate is not clear. All 17 were produced for commercial customers, so all those planes on the pic above are Soviet made.

The three planes that are in production, are they being built at Aviastar SP?

Let's say they are occupying space at Aviastar. I have no information about them actually being built.

Oh haha. I think I understood. We from Serbia are quite aware of stalled projects because of lack of funding/political will!

Overall, I think there exists a global market for oversize air freight, and I think that someone will eventually have to fill in the gap, since the current An-124s are getting old. Perhaps once the situation between Russia and Ukraine stabilizes, we will see some progress.

Antonov is planning to introduce new version of An-124, I believe An-124-300. Main features: 'western' avionics and engines. I won't be surprise to see
An-124 mounted with GE/RR/PW.

Moreover, there are plans to introduce new planes and improvements of already existing one. Main strategy is to use Russian parts as little as possible.

I would love to see new production An-124s with modern engines such as the General Electric GEnx or the Rolls Royce Trent 100. Perhaps winglets or raked wingtips too.

Who is going to finance this development?

I believe Antonov itself from the profits of cargo transportation (as they usually do)

Air Koryo AN148-100B (reg. P-671)

Not bad of a livery on a modern aircraft... but I think it needs some refreshing.

Perhaps, but i for one am pessimistic about it. Restart of An-124 production was on the agenda in better times and those talks ended with nothing, let alone today. Obviously attempt of 'solo' production by whether Russia or Ukraine will raise all possible costs related and will most likely make a plane non-competitive. Meanwhile the clock is ticking and An-124 is becoming obsolete (i.e. more and more expensive to modernize).

Is that a photoshop? It looks like the engine nacelles have chevrons such as a Boeing 787? Is that something new that Antonov is doing?

It is not a photoshop. Those chevrons have been placed for almost 2,5 years already. Antonov (step by step and quite slowly) testing noise reduction systems.
