Russian sources are crap. In the early 1980s, Oleg Antonov was a sick old man. That says it all.

Sorry, folks. I've decided to close this thread temporarily because at least two members have complained about discussions irrelevant to Antonov. I will keep you updated on when i will reopen this thread after some cleaning up.

Update: thread reopened. A warning to members like Буран and those who have issues with Antonov: you are free to discuss anything related to the airline, but, if you have to criticize the company for any reason, do so constructively. Remember that Antonov is a Ukrainian company, not Russian or Serbian. And while it may have a smaller production line than Boeing or Airbus, it still produces a lot of planes for various airlines and missions. Be proud that you have created the largest possible aircraft in the world, the AN-225, which I find as a masterpiece of how much cargo can be transported nearly anywhere in the world.

Completion of the AN−132 construction is scheduled for the end of 2016. After series of the test flights, ANTONOV Company and its partners on the programme: King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, Taqnia Aeronautics Co. (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) will present the aircraft to the potential customers in Saudi Arabia.
«Our country needs such airplanes, the market has very high potential. Creating the AN−132 we generated a cluster of aerospace industry in one platform. We had a study that forecasting very good number of this aircraft to be utilized in Saudi Arabia», – said Dr. Khaled Abdullah Alhussain, Director of National Aerospace Technology Center, KACST.
Aircraft operators from South−East Asia and Latin America expressed their interest in the AN−132.
Questions on the interaction on the AN−132 programme, development and initiation of the new joint will be discussed during participation of ANTONOV Company in AFED−2016 to be held in Ar Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, within a period from the 21st to the 28th February 2016.

1. You're talking about another country (Uzbekistan).
2. We have the technical ability to produce wings in Kyiv.
3. In the foreseeable future, ANTONOV will not be producing the An-225 'Mriya'. This is economically disadvantageous.

1. We're not interested in the problems of Uzbekistan.
2. We will have the An-188 in the coming years(An-188 is a deep modernization of the An-70)

Just a programming note: since there are much less news and (reliable) articles available on Antonov, I will permit posting pictures here rather than having a separate thread in another sub-forum. That way, discussions can continue smoothly.

However, it does not mean that you are allowed to post stories that are not Antonov-related, nor discuss things that are obviously one-sided (e.g. pro-Russian, pro-Crimea, etc). I know that we have our own biases here, but, if you want to spread rumors about Antonov, please exercise extra caution since it is a sensitive issue. And if anyone smears pro-Russia propaganda here (or Soviet Union) with no reference to current Antonov development, the staff here reserve the right to send such offenders to the brig or be banned for good.
