They didn't say anything about the Volga-Dnepr Company.

@Oplot-M

Regarding Volga Dnepr did you convinced me of your opinion initially , so the links should underline the base of the An-22 in Leipzig/Halle.

But another question: Who sould do the technical service there?

@sponge bob

Definetly. A few weeks ago were 7 An-124 at the same time in Leipzig.

I don't think there will be problems in maintenance of the An-22 'Antei' in LEJ*.
*The LEJ is one of the largest transport hubs in Germany.

China’s Home-Built Passenger Jet Makes Debut

Quote:
Though touted as a homegrown Chinese product, the ARJ21 is influenced by the McDonnell Douglas MD-90 and relies heavily on foreign technology, including avionics from Rockwell Collins Inc., engines from General Electric Co. and a wing designed by Ukraine’s Antonov State Co.

Meanwhile, Antonov is working on installing new engines on Antonov Airline's An-124-100 - D−18T series 3M, upgraded version of D−18T series 3. The new engines will have a longer operation cycle and reduced level of noise and emission.

Currently, the new engines are ongoing testing and certification. The installation will begin in 2017.

Antonov betting on Western technology

Quote:
July 14, 2016, ©. Leeham Co, Farnborough Air Show: The company Antonov is world renowned for its rugged transport aircraft. The recent An-124 Ruslan and An-225 Mriya super-heavy transporters are the world’s largest transport aircraft. Both fly daily for the Antonov companies own airline, transporting outsize cargo for companies like Boeing, Airbus, GE, Rolls-Royce and others.

The air freighter company is what keeps Antonov afloat, for it has been hit hard by the fall of the Soviet Union and Ukraine’s decision to split with the Russian Federation and orient itself to the West.

Adapted to the state planning system

Antonov has traditionally operated in the Soviet model of a design bureau, which has licensed its designs to contract manufacturers in Russia and Ukraine. In the Soviet model, it was the design center for rugged transporters in competition with the Ilyushin design bureau. Antonov has been very successful as a design bureau, famous for the An-2, An-12, An-24, An-124 and An-225 aircraft. There are 22,000 Antonov aircraft spread over 50 variants.

This impressive number of Antonov aircraft is of little help to the company today. It does not own the rights to most of these aircraft as the rights have been licensed to the production companies in most cases. It is also these companies that maintain and support their produced aircraft, an important revenue stream for any aircraft manufacturer.

Consequently, Antonov, with its 3,000 engineers, has been dependent on new development projects from the Russian and Ukrainian states. When these dried up because of the Ukrainian-Russian political crisis, things turned bad for Antonov. It was engaged in developing and certifying the advanced An-70 transporter for the Russian and Ukrainian military, an aircraft as flexible and capable as the Airbus A400M. This project is now stopped. The split with Russia when it comes to development and production of Antonov aircraft is complete.

Turning to market economy and seeking Western partners

Antonov has changed a lot from 2015. The company ceased to exist as an independent unit under the Ukrainian Ministry of Economic Development and Trade. It became part of the state giant UkroBoronProm’s (UkroBoronProm gathers over 100 of Ukraine’s important defense and aeronautical industry companies) May 12, 2015. UkroBoronProm was set up by the Ukrainian state to transform its Soviet oriented Defense and Aeronautical industry into Western style market-driven companies.

We met with the President of UkroBoronProm, Roman Romanov, at the Farnborough Air Show, to discuss the way ahead for Antonov. Romanov gave us a comprehensive presentation of the transformation project he is leading. UkroBoronProm is changing the mindset of 80,000 people in more than 100 companies, teaching them that one develops and produces what the market wants, not what some minister, political or military leader thinks is the suitable thing to do. UkroBoronProm has made considerable progress since it started this work in 2010. The total group is now profitable after years of losses and cooperation with Western partners is sought in all fields.

An-32 and -178 becoming Westernized

For Antonov, this means their Soviet era designs An-32 and An-178 are now being Westernized. This involves finding replacements for all Russian Federation-developed and produced parts. This has taken the form of a cooperation with Saudi-Arabia where the An-32 is brought to an An-132 specification, featuring western-built avionics and engines. The Saudi-assembled An-132 will be powered by Pratt & Whitney Canada PW150 turboprop engines and have Honeywell avionics, Liebherr air conditioning and UTC Aerosystems APU.

A similar transformation is underway with the Embraer KC-390 and C-130 Hercules-sized An-178. From containing 42% Russian made components when it was conceived from the An-158 airliner three years ago, it is now devoid of any Russian dependencies. Cooperative sales and production projects are now actively sought for the An-178 with the first agreement signed with India’s Reliance Defence Ltd. The aim is to replace the Indian-Russian state’s ailing Ilyushin Il-114 project. This project, which started in 2000, will take 19 years to produce the first flying prototype. Many doubt the Indian state wants to wait so long for an aircraft which cannot be more than the An-178 which has been flying since May 2015. LNC has this short video from the Paris Air Show about the An-178.

The mainstay of the Antonov Airlines cargo, is transported by the An-124 Ruslan. This, the world’s second largest outsize cargo transport aircraft after the An-225 Mriya (which was only built in one copy), is operated in a joint outsize cargo company “Ruslan International” with Volga-Dnepr Airlines of Russia. A total of 26 of these giants where produced. Ruslan International operates 17 of these. The Ruslans are active over the world and often are called upon to fly the largest GE and Rolls-Royce aircraft engines to places where they are urgently needed.

There are no plans to seek an immediate cooperation to restart production of the An-124. The existing aircraft will be upgraded with Western avionics (FMS, ADS-B etc) to make the operating fleet more efficient. Then the possibilities for producing further aircraft will be explored, should an interested partner be found.

ANTONOV Company at Farnborough 2016

Within a period from the 11th to the 17th of July 2016, ANTONOV Company took part in the Farnborough International Airshow – 2016 held in Farnborough, Great Britain. Traditionally ANTONOV presented its modern programmes in three following segments: transports, regional passenger airplanes and special−purpose aircraft. The models of AN−158 regional jet, AN−148−300MP maritime patrol, AN−148−100EM medevac, AN−132 light transport and AN−178 multipurpose transport, which was also shown at the static display and in the demo flights programme.
During the airshow, ANTONOV Company’s specialists conducted negotiations. The main subject was confirmation of existing agreements and search of new partners. There were meetings with potential customers of ANTONOV aircraft.
In particular, a meeting with delegation of Dowty Propellers headed by Oliver Towers, the President of the company, was held. Cooperation on the Contract as for delivery of the propellers for AN−132D demonstrator aircraft was discussed. It provides excellent climb and cruise performance while generating low noise levels, and the system’s modular configuration is designed for low maintenance costs – eliminating mechanical linkages to cockpit. “We’ve established an excellent working relationship with Antonov since signing the R408 propeller system’s supply agreement in January, and our teams are fully committed to making the AN−132D demonstrator a success,” said Mr. Towers.
Her Excellency Natalia Galibarenko, Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, visited ANTONOV Company’s exposition at the Airshow. She expressed her readiness to assist in development of cooperation between Ukraine and Great Britain in aviation field.
ANTONOV Company and Pratt&Whitney Canada signed a Memorandum of Understanding to provide Antonov’s AN−132 aircraft production program with a new version of the PW150A turboprop engine.
At Farnborough−2016, the meeting with ANTONOV’s key partners on the AN−132 programme, heads of King Abdulaziz City Science and Technology (KACST) and Taqnia Aeronautics Co., kingdom of Saudi Arabia, was conducted. Telling about the AN−132 programme development, Dr. Khaled Abdullah Alhussain, Director of KACST, said: "Until present, we almost completed construction of AN−132D demonstrator aircraft. Nowadays, we are mounting the engines and avionics systems. Works on the aircraft construction are performed in close cooperation between KACST and ANTONOV Company. It will be a modern, competitive aircraft which will take a proper place in the world market. We intend to start AN−132 tests till the end of this year and to find potential customers for this airplane. We are constructing the An−132 to present it in the market, and simultaneously we are preparing the necessary infrastructure for it including composite materials. High technologies are embodied into this airplane".
On July 13, Oleksandr Kotsiuba, the President of ANTONOV Company, and Michel Potvin, the President of Esterline Avionics Systems, signed a contract on delivery of systems and equipment for aircraft of AN−148, AN−158 family, AN−178 transport and AN−124−100 Ruslan freighters. The solemn ceremony of the contract signing was held in presence of Christa Freeland, Minister of International Trade of Canada, Jim Quick, the President of Association of aerospace enterprises of Canada, and Roman Romanov, Director General of UKROBORONPROM State Concern. Mrs. Freeland said in her speech: “Turning to the Ukrainian party at this event, I would like to say, that you and your partners have Canadian government support. Signing of this contract is a good opportunity to join Canadian technologies with perfect ANTONOV aircraft. We are ready to assist in development of this fruitful cooperation”. Under the terms of the first contract, Esterline CMC Electronics will supply its CMA−9000 Flight Management System (FMS), and Multi−Function Displays for a quantity of sixty, new production AN−148/158/178 aircraft of various purposes. For the second contract, the same systems, displays and CMA−5024 GPS Sensors will be installed on seven airplanes of AN−124−100 Ruslan type of ANTONOV AIRLINES. Michel Potvin, the President of Esterline Avionics Systems, said: “We are very proud that Antonov has selected our avionics system solutions for this family of transport aircraft. This is a key endorsement of our core navigational systems expertise and pedigree”.
Estimating work of ANTONOV Company at Farnborough−2016, Oleksandr Kotsiuba specified: “We have reached the intended goal. We conducted important negotiations, meetings, concluded fundamental agreements as for cooperation with the world leaders of aircraft industry. Such interaction will provide competitive advantages for new ANTONOV aircraft. For the first time in Great Britain we presented the AN−178, which attracted an intense interest. Hereby I would like to express high gratitude to His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent for his visit to the AN−178, attention to the ANTONOV Company’s programmes and warm words in memory of His Royal Highness’ visit to Ukraine and to our enterprise in particular”.

I've read something about Antonov these days. Kiva said that Antonov will not stop the cooperation with Russians in civilian sector. What does that mean?
