Exploring FIXd's Shapeshifting, Wildly Futuristic 'Mo Ventus'

Quote:
This swooping conception, called Mo Ventus, is designed to be a luxury mansion that also happens to be zero-energy and built with sustainable technology. With integrated wind turbines, photovoltaic arrays, and fuel cells, the insanely ultramodern house—which almost puts Zaha Hadid's white spaceship in Russia to shame—could be constructed pretty much anywhere in the world, and on sites that would stymie traditional builders. Architect Todd Fix should know: an architect at the prolific and very traditional New England firm Royal Barry Wills by day, he's seen the project that began as a small experimental design evolve into the mindboggling renderings shown above. Now Fix and project manager Ryan Ole Fass are hot on the hunt for—well, you know, an actual buyer. Throughout the process, they've sought advice from builders and engineers around the world and, as Hass describes it, "the biggest hurdle that we had was 'Wait, you don't have a client who is ready to build this?'"

Quote:
Finding a client for this unique creation remains the key to the Mo Ventus plan, and that's one of the reasons that Boston-based Fix sought out a collaboration with Hass, an L.A.-based real estate broker. The duo have pitched their plans to "some high wealth individuals in this country and overseas, and they've really responded well to it." They have yet to find someone willing to put "pen to paper yet," but they won't sacrifice the design to ensure its construction. According to Hass, "the integrity of the design is what makes this place so spectacular and unique [...] hopefully the person that wants to build this wants to build it for what it is and not what it isn't."

Zaha Hadid, 'Naomi Campbell Spaceship House' Barvikha Russia

The boyfriend of supermodel Naomi Campbell, Russian billionaire Vladislav Doronin, has commissioned Zaha Hadid to design a house in the style of a spaceship in Barvikha, Moscow.

The home features 2 separate components, the main one jutting out from the earth and the other rising high into the sky for views of the area. At 2,650 square meters, the house has plenty of room to wander around in and is high enough to enjoy a view over the trees.

I believe that's just the estimated cost of construction. Land, fees, etc could drive this plan much higher but it's not as expensive as a luxury penthouse in many cities.

Safe House

This innovative project, called Safe house, was designed by Polish architectural studio KWK Promes. The main priority of the owner was to provide the feeling of maximum security in their future house, and as a result we can see the modern fortress, which is hidden behind an impenetrable wall. At the same time, it’s a surprisingly beautiful open villa. The idea from KWK Promes: ‘The house took the form of rectangular prism in which parts of the exterior walls are movable. When the house opens up to the garden, eastern and western side walls move towards the exterior fence creating a courtyard. After crossing the gate one has to wait in this safety zone before being let inside the house. In the same time, there is no risk of children escaping to the street area in an uncontrolled way while playing in the garden’. The Safe House is an ideal place for those, who appreciate privacy and security. And the good point that this technology can be used for modern and traditional, single- and multi – storeyed houses covered with roofs of different geometry.

In practise, though, if you're in the target customer group for such a house, it would act as a paranoia amplifier anyway.

I always loved this one, has such a distinctive Tattoine rust style to it. Could be a perfect idol for future Mars architecture and the likes.

Btw, is this thread's purpose to show only single-family homes, or are multi-family homes (no skyscrapers please) also allowed?
