Do Dust Storms count? This was an epic one in Sydney a few years back. Played havoc on my asthma, though.

Purely a dust storm. Here is a satellite shot as it passed over

I remember having my window open during the night and waking up with a dirt taste in my mouth. Could not see more than 50m out of my window.
Amazingly, it was all cleared up by 2pm that afternoon. Most amazing thing I have experienced

Was one of the more awesome weather events of the past few years (beats floods, fires, etc..) and just about covered the entire east coast.

Well, I am glad we are not blessed. It also can cause a lot of tragedies. Look at Oklahoma for instance.
