Great pics, horrible development. What do you call that, post-modern monumentalism? eek!

Thanks skymantle for your comment
Sure it was a controversial project. In this aera the disadvantages are real (no balconies in the buildings its sad in south region, and there is life only during the day)
but there is some good thngs its a neighbour with many activities, olympic swimmingpool, main library, good tramway connection and not far from city center.
(sorry for my english)

Interesting and very big development project, but I can't say I like it either. It looks plastic, too big and too empty.

This project is now finished. And i think nobody knows if he likes o no . The new district in construction now just before Antigone (Port Marianne is more classic), with few interesting buildings (new city-hall from Jean Nouvel).

I actually like it; it looks very smart and quite classical; although I also think it will look better in years to come when it has "bedded in" a little and become a more natural and integrated part of the cityscape.

I really dislike the square and the large glass building in the first pictures, but the rest looks better. It's great that there seem to be many people in the streets and lots of nice green trees.
I also agree with Openlyjane that it could improve over the years.

The modern art is pretty interesting and the fountains are fantastic, but the fake Greek statues and fake Greek temples are horrible. They remind me of the Gallo-Roman village in the Asterix comic "Le combat des chefs" (maybe French people will see what I mean ).

Actually in this district, there is life with 2 big schools near , some offices, swimming pool, and main library. And student pass through the district to go in the old town or shopping mall. The weekend there is market or some events (The ex city hall did everything to give life in this place)
Wapper you've got chance i've don't take picture of all statues
