I made this maps showing what I think are the majority of urban (ish) projects that are either under planning or under construction in Oslo + parts of the surrounding urban area (not everything is seen in satellite picture) right now. It's based on my memory so some projects may be omitted. I'm not that updated on what is happening in the suburbs (especially Groruddalen) so I assume there are more projects there that I'm simply not aware of. It also does not include infrastructure which Oslo will get a number large-scale projects of in the future. The original picture was found here: https://flic.kr/p/QHQEK1

The re-development scheme of the old Vinmonopolet building at Halse have received construction permit (rammetillatelse). It's designed by Kristin Jarmund Arkitekter and will house 250 apartments and a shopping mall when completed. The original building dates from 1932 and was drawn by architects Otto V. Juell and Otto L. Scheden.

Haptic Architects design for the development of a city block in Drøbak (what is essentially a edge town of Oslo). I'm very sceptical of how that cladding is going to turn out. Still I love that Drøbak are starting to get some urban developments too as it is one of the places in the Oslo area with the greatest potential if you ask me.

The office project in Cort Adelers gate 33 in Vika. It consisted of demolishing a early 1930s modernistic building and replace it with a 6 stories high office building, refurbish a old 19th century school into office spaces and build a small infill towards a side street. I'm not a huge fan.

How it ended up:

http://cortadelersgt33blogg.skanska.no/

I also took a picture of the small infill earlier this year before it was fully completed:

Party infill, partly topfill in Mariboes gate 16 in the Hausmanns area. Design is by Kima arkitektur. Looks really nice if you ask me.

The proposed re-development of Landbrukskvartalet at Grønland. It is right a across the street of the two angled glass boxes I posted a while ago.

Østensjøveien 16 at Bryn. A rather dull looking thing, but is part of an attempt to urbanize a former office/industrial park outside of the inner city. There will eventually be a tram line in the street too but that part is still some years into the future sadly.

Everything here will hopefully become part of the urban city at some point. There are already plans for a number of other sites seen here.

Some pictures of the completed upgrade of Prinsens Gate in Kvadraturen. It was made into a street reserved for trams like what Storgata will also become. It's quite hard to find pictures of the finished results though so maybe I will go down and take some pictures on my own one day, but this is what I've found for now. Both the location and the situation before the upgrade can be seen here: https://www.google.no/maps/place/Pri....7451953?hl=no

Tragic how they dropped cobblestones in Prinsens Gate

Mariboes gate 16 and the proposal for Landbrukskvartalet on the other hand looks great! Was that the winner of the competition (Landbrukskvartalet)?

As a highrise fan I should maybe applaud this (Even as it isn't probably a real highrise). However, I'm mainly an architecture fan. The complex blends badly with its environment. Consisting of classical style residential building, this fill-in space had a different and better potential.

Yes, I agree. I actually wished Oslo was better at embracing cobble stones in general. It is remarkable how much prettier many streets in Bergen looks like due to their widespread use of cobble stones.

Here is a render of how the upgrade of Prinsens gate was initially intended to be become (for those not familiar with it):

Here is also another picture (albeit very small) of the finished street:

Yes, that's the winning entry.

Construction update of new Ski train station. It is part of the larger Follobane project which will consist of a 19,5 km long twin-bore train tunnel between Oslo central station and Ski. The station is expected to be completed in 2020 while the whole project is expected to be completed one year later in 2021. I think the design of the new station looks nice and I believe it could potentially become a catalyst for the urban development of Ski, something which is badly needed. LPO arkitekter are responsible for the design.

Construction update taken by me today:

A mixed-use projects in Skippergata 22-26 in Kvadraturen. It will consist of rehabilitating two 19th century buildings and build a infill in the backyard with a roof terrace. It will house offices, apartments, restaurants and bars when completed later this year.

Here is a picture of how Skippergata 22 currently looks like. Number 26 can be seen to the left.

The project:
