This thread is starting to function like the best, namely aspiring to be covering ongoing projects broadly and indiscrminantly. That's singlehandedly good work Galro.

I'd be keen to view a similar display of projects in "west end", from vika to Frogner and Homansbyen-Majorstua including Uranienborg and Fagerborg. It'd simply be a very interesting comparison.

There aren't that much construction going on in Oslo west at the moment. You have Skøyen where there is always some developments of course, there is a little at Majrostua, then there is the new national museum at vestbanen and some developments in the suburbs like Fornebu and Lysaker. There are a quite few more planned though, but there is little to take construction pictures of it right now.

Apartment development at Karlsrud by Dyrvik arkitekter.

The location is outlined in red here. As it can be seen it will represent a significant increase in the density for the area. It is located next to the Karlsrud metro station.

The upgrade of Trygve Lies plass at Furuset, suburban Oslo. It is part of an attempt to revitalize the area and to encourage urban re-development of Furuset.

The area today:

I guess your´re right. A new location of the bus terminal must not only be decided, it must actually be built.

Still, I like to play with ideas. I like to keep the century perspective. I think that´s needed to take right decisions and that has been lacking in Oslo.

This is how some architectural students (I think) visualized it some years ago.

I believe it was published in Aften but I´ve unforeunately lost the source. I love it! For its boldness, for the thinness! It reflects the barcode development very well and would do great to the skyline as seen, for instance, from Ekeberg.

I am familiar with that vision. I think the highrise part should be higher as it will look really weird if everything ends up being of close to the same height there, but the designs themselves looks decent. I also think the lowrise part could be better designed as it appears to be just a bunch of tower on podiums there instead of perimeter blocks with continuous street-walls like I prefer.

Noone asks for it, but I still take pleasure in giving my subjective judgement:

1 ADAPT
The most "governmental" alternative and thus the strongest reminder of why I wouldn´t want it where it lies - eating a chunk of the small cake called Oslos inner center (speaking as a citizen). I could have favoured the same alternative in a different location.

2 AKERSRYGGEN
An alternative with potential, but too weak (lacking novelty) and appearing too much like a wall when seen from the backside (from youngstorget). I like it from the front side, even if it´s obvious that they are inspired by the barcode project.

3 KIMING
The good thing to say here is that it is not Snohettas autrocious ice berg concept (which I`m happy not to find among the 7 here listed alternatives). The bad thing is that in its absence, it´s the new "most horrid alternative". The fact that they have exchanged the usual LO banner at youngstorget with a norwegian flag don`t save it the least bit. Authoritarian in its crude symmetry.

4 LYSNING
Too anonymous. Not ugly, but not bringing Oslo a tad forwards.

5 RAK RYGG
My favourite given the irreversibility of the decision to build in the same old location. It`s metropolitan, has natural authority and cold style.
(but what`s with that skating park, it should go).

6 SEKVENSER
I thought these had to be proposals. Here`s little but a volume sketch

7 VIDSYN
The safe and boring alternative which will thus not unlikely win.

RAK RYGG SEEN FROM EKEBERG:

I actually quite like the Adapt proposals in nothing else than simply because it respect the established streetgrids around Møllergata and Grubbegata even if the architecture itself appears to be quite dreary and very '60s. But overall I would say Akersryggen is my favorite.

A bar that was made in connection to the new Gardemoen Airport extension. The design is by Snøhetta and it is said to have been inspired by and partly constructed with traditional Norwegian Norgesglass jars.

A recent picture showing parts of city viewed from the Holmenkollen ski jump. The Sørkedalsveien 8/Rift development can be seen in the front. The open area one block to the left of it is Majorstua station which will soon be moved underground which will eventually leave the former station area open for re-development.

Grenseveien 90 at Helsfyr, just down the street of Fyrstikktorget project above. The tram line shown in the renderings sadly do not exist at the moment but there are plans to build in the nearby future.
