Vålerenga stadium - the office part

Facts | Area: 70.000m2 | Architets: Lund + Slaatto | Location

Vålerenga stadium - the office part

Four office "towers" planned at Helsfyr, Oslo. The office development is intended to partly finance a new stadium next door. It will be built in area that is dominated by suburban-style development where little thoughst have gone into how each building connect with each other and the surrounding streets, as evident by the renders. This development will hopefully be a stept towards urbanization of this part of the city. The highest building will be 59.5m.

It's currently going through regulation.

Bispevika, part 2

Architects: A-lab +Civitas + MAD | Location

Bispevika, part 2

Some renders have been realesed of the block behind Bispevika. This project is currently going through regulations so there may be a few changes before it gets approved. The idea, as far as I understad, is to have a few more loosely connected blocks facing the bay (which is where the abovementioned Bispevika will be placed) and more traditional blocks behind them again.

Overview map:

Current concept for the office part of the project (the office part is the three-devided triangle in the right upper corner of the map):

The traditional housing block:

The backyard of one of the blocks:

The design aren't finished of course, but it shows what they are thinking of in terms of planning and massing. It seems like each of the traditional blocks will be devided into numerious slots with different height, designs and colors used.

Cable car

Facts | Location

Cable car

A cable car line that is planned to go from the site of the proposed Munch museum to the top of the nearby hill of Ekeberg. The project is finanched by Norwegian businessman Christian Rignes and is part of the larger Ekeberg Sculpture park project, where part of the Ebeberg hill is intended to be transformed into a park-like accommodation. This also financed by Rignes. The sculpture park was approved a while back and they have started the clearing of the site. I'm unsure about whether or not the cable car was approved at the same time or if it needs a aditional approval. The cable car line will run over the roof line of the Bispevika project seen above.

The cable car station at the Ekeberg side of the line:

Vollebekk

Vollebekk is a mixed used project located in the Grorud Valley, Oslo. The project will be entirely pedestrian and is said to be inspired by the Italian town of Lucca among other things.

The proposal:

Updated proposal. A-lab will design it instead.

Three different possible solutions to how to develop the area.

A (left): One architect for the whole masterplan.
B (middle): One architect for each blocks.
C (right): Each block gets devided into slots/buildings with different architects working on each slot/building.

Oslos esplanades

Facts | Location

Oslos esplanades

A park-like esplanade along Oslos waterfront is being constructed these days. Two construction pictures of it.

God how I hate these two yellow boxes. Ruins the whole area.

The construction updates have been taken from the blog "Changing Oslo" (Oslo i forandring): http://osloiforandring.origo.no/

I took the liberty to mark out the "active" site for developments in Oslo on this aerial. Red means that I've seen either a proposal or a feasibility study for it. Greens means that is currently under construction.

I have only included dense, "city-like" masterplan-developments with numerious buildings in it. Most of the suburbs aren't covered here.

Some of the locations might be inaccurate.

I really like the plan for it, looks so nice with all the diversity in colors and heights of the buildings!

I really like it too. Hopefully we will see something similar gets chosen for Vollebekk, which is drawn by the same architects (a-lab).

Masterplan | Skårer Syd

Facts | Architects: Dark | Location

Skårer Syd

The project was declared the winner of a parallel competition for the development of Skaarer syd, an area of approx. 22 acres at the end of Skårersletta Lørenskog. The Competition proposal shows a development of approx. 150,000 sqm, mainly housing. It established a common walk through the area in the north south direction that marks the end of Skårersletta, the center axis of the future “city” Skaarer. The common walk conveys the transition between the dense city in the north and the forest in the south. Towards Skaarersletta are common walk designed as a pedestrian street with cafes, kiosks and patios.

Further south is the square, park and a slope. The slope is a park/recreation area connecting to the crosscountry skiing paths only 100 meters away.
The solution has higher buildings to the north along the Gamleveien and the cultural and shopping center Triaden. The settlement is tapered down to terraced singlefamily homes of 3-4 floors of the south.
This creates a natural transition to the existing surrounding dwellings buildings.

The project shows great variety of building types with high-rise buildings, wafer blocks, patio blocks, single family homes and townhouses are represented. The area to the north relate to existing property boundaries, footpaths and roads as well as on critical directions and axes in the environment. This allows nonrectangular blocks with a freer structure that opens onto the existing small houses scattered settlement in the south.
In the design of the quarters are laid special emphasis on creating diverse outdoor space with good sun exposure in the outside spaces and balconies/terraces as well as the possibility of overlooking Østmarka in the south.

A unanimous jury of the largest landowners StorOslo Project, Lørenskog, Hageland and Blomsterringen selected MarKant as the winner. HRTB and SJ architects were the other participants.

It looks more like an annex-beach and that they had some space left.

Yeah, it's not the largest thing, but many of our current waterfront project have these little beaches every now and then for good measure. Given how expensive land is along the shores then I guess they don't like the idea of "wasting" more of it on beaches than absolute necessarily.

Example of a similar beach that was completed last year (I believe) at Tjuvholmen:

Lørenskoghus culture house

A culture house that was completed a couple of years ago. I uploaded these pictures to use in this tread, but I figured that it may be of interest here too given that I haven't showcased it yet and is fairly recent construction.

I found a new render and two diagrams of this building. It may be of interest.

Main entrance/front.

Dimensions in relations to the surroundings.

Interior.

It's expected to start construction early next year when they are finished with constructing the surrounding road network and other infrastructure at the site.

Alfheim

Facts | Architects: Snøhetta | Location

Alfheim

A mixed use development in Asker consisting of three office and three apartment buildings. Start of construction was in January 2012 and is expected to be completed this fall. Design is by Snøhetta. Sadly only these rather poor renders are available of it so it's hard to know what to make of it yet.

Sørenga

Here are some additional renders of this building step too. It will be divided into two blocks.

It's the two blocks in the upper left corner of this overview map:

It's designed by the same architectural firm that is behind this building Tjuvholmen. I think this quite a nice building so I have some expectations to the one at Sørenga too.
