It's a pitty that Karasek has stopped contributing to this forum and especially to this (his) thread. I hope he's doing well!

We haven't heard of him for ages sadly. Did he visit APH or DAF again in the past year?

Hopefully he didn't follow his idol. Or maybe it was actually him?!

Kamieniec Zabkowiciki was prone to flooding.

The village of Byczen is on a high spot and its parish church dates to 1771

Contrast in Kamieniec Zabkowicki. Above the post Cistercian abbey Church of the Assumption completed 1772.
Below the Evangelical church 1885 now used for exhibits and concerts.

10 km from Kamieniec is Złoty Stok (formerly Reichenstein) at the Czech border. Was known for mining.

Architect Ludwig Schneider, who created many Silesian churches was living there and designed this hotel & resturant in the mountains, today the Golden Jar.

I reduced my activities in these forums in the last 2 years, from time to time I have look on them but there wasn't a single post from karasek.

The origin of his pseudonym wasn't Hellmuth Karasek (1934 - 2015) but Johannes Karasek (1764 - 1809) the leader of a band of robbers in Northern Bohemia and in the southern part of Upper Lusatia.

I hope imploringly that he just retired from all those architectural forums and that he´s doing well.

And if I look at quotes like the following one then I can easily understand such a "retirement".

Thank you JValjean, Karasek started a good thread. By participating I learn about the region.

STOP the political trolling, people. I've deleted a lot of the same old crap and infighting that we have had to delete here in photo threads since SSC began. Seriously the next person to derail this thread into those "cleansing" off topic discussions is getting a big fat infraction, immediately. PLEASE STICK TO PHOTOS AND ARCHITECTURAL DISCUSSIONS. Honestly, I do not have three hours now to sift through this entire thread to delete every single bit of bickering so everyone is just going to have to ignore the comments they disagree with in past pages of this thread and move forward. Thank you.

Haunting and intriguing. I wonder what life was like there when it was whole and filled with people

Marienbad? The famous healing waters baths of the 19th century?
