In English: New Polish tv series about castles and palaces and their owners (I don't know if it's only about Silesia) is now broadcasted - "Kup Pan zamek" which means "Buy a castle, sir".

For clarification, the palaces built in the 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries were built by and for Germans, correct?

Yes, Germans in that time period for the most part.

Prior to that I think of Klodzo county as the "Bohemian Gateway."

According to the latest research first stone castles in Silesia were built in the second half of the 12th century, earlier than initially thought.

The palatium of Mieszko I of Poland is probably one of the oldest stone buildings in Poland, it was built in the second half of the 10th century.

Legal Framework

That is stunning progress on a lot of very big and expansive projects. I didn't expect things to be going so well and so fast over there. It seems that especially given the amount of buildings which had to be restored, Poland has done a much better job than other countries have with their country houses.

Does anybody happen to know what the laws are like in Poland for the restauration of such buildings? I know that in countries like the UK and Germany they are often times a large part of what scares people off such projects, because they restrict choice and require a lot of very expansive solutions. The BBC series "Renovation Home" often times features such projects and their problems. Are these laws laxer in Poland?

This gentleman formed a public benefit organization to renovate the manor in Ścinawka Średnia near Klodzko.

Btw, are there helpful sites on the web for people who'd like to buy and renovate manor houses / castles in Silesia? I'd love to know more about the topic. And see more results of course!

At the manor pictured above, the baroque chapel is a point of interest. Photo uses extra 'color.'
