The towers are growing quickly.

First picture is from august 31st, second picture is from september 9th, you can see it has grown 2 floors, although there was the labor day holiday in between that period.

By now it could easily have two additional floors.

The same take, two days before, without fog. That girl takes regularly shots of this spot, with several others of herself riding her bicycle on the bridge, among other on the streets, at Grand Central, trying clothes...

A secuency made from the galery of bitchcakes on flickr. http://www.flickr.com/photos/bitchcakes/
She frecuently takes shots from that spot, although her shots are not intended to make construction updates of these buildings, but inadvertently she does.

I cropped the original picture in order to focus on the buildings.
The secuency is from august 23, when the site B tower started to rise above the buildings in the foreground until yesterday, october 12th. In that time, 50 days, the tower grown 18 stories so one every 2,77 days on average, pretty quick!

In no time, maybe 3 or 4 weeks, it will obscure the Chrysler as seen from that point. At the rate it is growing, it may top out by the end of the year.

It seems that site B is already topped out! (except for the cube on the top)

The taller building at site A still has 11 floors to go, at the pace thety've been working, it is posible they top it out by the last days of this year.

The first pair of pictures are from november 16th courtesy of the unofficial and unintended updater of this complex, bitchcakes, from the Pulasky Bridge.

Bellow, as a comparison, a picture from july 7th, when the building wasn't over the ground yet (you can see the dark grey walls of the school) so in just 4 months, they topped out this 32-floor tower.

Second Phase awarded to TF Cornerstone

TF Cornerstone bags massive Hunter’s Point South build

licpost

Quote:
The city has chosen TF Cornerstone and nonprofit Selfhelp Community Services to develop Hunter’s Point South’s second phase, with ODA Architecture handling the project’s design.

This stage of the project lining the Long Island City waterfront is to consist of a 36-story and 41-story apartment building with a total of 1,193 units between them, 400 of which will be market-rate, officials told Crain’s. The remainder will be affordable, most slated for moderate-income families.

The project will be the last such mixed-income project during Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s term, according to city Housing Preservation and Development Commissioner RuthAnne Visnauskas.

“The city saw this as an opportunity to build middle-income housing and really reach a demographic that doesn’t get financed by many of our programs,” Visnauskas told Crain’s. “It is really servicing people who make the city live and breathe.”

Low-income seniors are slated to receive 100 of the roughly 800 affordable units, with the remaining 700 designated for families making from 105 percent to 155 percent of the median income for the area, which for a family of four would be between $111,670 and $141,735 annually.

The overall Hunter’s Point South development is to be the city’s largest affordable housing project since Co-op City in the Bronx and Starrett City in Brooklyn were finished more than 30 years ago.
