Pagaruyung Palace, West Sumatra, Indonesia (Minangkabau tradition) - This is an "exact" replica of a palace that was destroyed in 1880.

located in Tanjung Emas subdistrict near Batusangkar city, Tanah Datar Regency, West Sumatra, Indonesia. It was built in the traditional Minangkabau Rumah Gadang vernacular architectural style, but had a number of a typical elements including three stories structure and larger dimension compares to common rumah gadang.

Although today there is no king or royal family resides in this palace, since the Pagaruyung Kingdom was disbanded in 1833, the palace still held in high esteem among Minangkabau people as the descendants of scattered Minang nobles (bangsawan) still seeks their root and link to the former royal house of Pagaruyung. The palace has been destroyed by fire for several times, in 1804, 1966 and 2007. It has been rebuilt again and today function as museum and popular tourist attraction.

The original Pagaruyung palace was built on Batu Patah Hill and was burned down during a riot in Padri War back in 1804. The palace was rebuilt again, but destroyed again in fire in 1966. The building was being rebuilt again in 1976 as the replica of the original Pagaruyung palace. The restoration of the palace marked with the erection of tunggak tuo (main columns) on 27 December 1976 by West Sumatra Governor Harun Zain. After the completion, the palace has become well-known to the public as a museum and tourist attraction. This building was not built on the original site, but moves south from the original site.

Batak Karo architecture - The Batak Karo people are tribes who lived in Northern Sumatra, most are adherent to Christianity, and many of their churches are heavily influenced by their architecture style. Karonese architecture ressemble somehow of those in Riau.

churches:

St. Mary Lourdes Church, Puh Sarang, Kediri, East Java - an interesting blend of Christian churches with local Javanese architecture.

Brahma Arama Buddhist Temple, Singaraja, Bali, Indonesia - Buddhism exist in Indonesia long loooong before the Dutch time, however Bali doesn't seem to have very strong community before the Dutch colonized Bali. The Dutch make Singaraja the capital of Bali, and as colonial center it attracts large number of Buddhist Chinese migrant to the island to settle in the city. Buddhist temple started to actually rise in Bali, but interestingly particularly this one which uses Balinese temples style!

When the Dutch settles in Bali, they are also interested in spreading Christianity in the island, but they aren't really successful. However they managed to convert a handful, the converts were then expelled by the unconverted Balinese from their villages and treated as traitors, as a result the Dutch gave them land to build their own village. One is dedicated to Catholic namely Palasari and its neighbor for the Protestant Blimbingsari. Both village have their church built in their traditional way.

The level of religious tolerance in Bali today, has enabled other religion to blend in with tradition, there are handful of other churches built in Balinese architecture like this St Joseph Church in Denpasar.

Kanekes/Badui Traditional Housing, tribes living in Banten region, these people are so closed to the world and are still adherent to Sunda Wiwitan (an old form of Indonesian Hinduism)

The Baduy (or Badui), who call themselves Kanekes, are a traditional community living in the western part of the Indonesian province of Banten, near Rangkasbitung. Their population of 11,700 is centered in the Kendeng mountains at an elevation of 300–500 meters (975'-1,625') above sea level. Their homeland in Banten, Java is contained in just 50 km2 (19 sq mi) of hilly forest area 120 km (75 mi) from Jakarta, Indonesia's capital.

Ethnically the Baduys belong to the Sundanese ethnic group. Their racial, physical and linguistic traits bear much resemblance to the rest of the Sundanese people; however, the difference is in their way of life. Baduy people resist foreign influences and vigorously preserve their ancient way of life, while modern Sundanese are more open to foreign influences and a majority are Muslims.

The Baduy are divided into two sub-groups; the Baduy Dalam (Inner Baduy), and the Baduy Luar (Outer Baduy). No foreigners were allowed to meet the Inner Baduy, though the Outer Baduy do foster some limited contacts with the outside world. The origin of the word Baduy may come from the term "Bedouin", although other sources claim the source is a name of a local river
