That's a big height increase, but with 520,000 square feet allotted, 758 feet is certainly reasonable. That's almost the same sq footage as 432 Park. Different design, of course, as this one looks to have 400+ smallish apartments, but stretching things vertically might provide a higher total return from apartment rentals.

19 Dutch: FiDi's Next Rental Skyscraper Begins its 758-Foot Ascent
January 10, 2017
Quote:
Construction on the Carmel Partners residential development at 112-118 Fulton Street moves heavenward after months of site preparation and foundation work. With construction now in high gear, the concrete superstructure is already 4 floors up and the Fulton Street-facing retail podium has been fully framed. With the 66-story tower quickly coming together, the California-based developer has updated their webpage on the project releasing its official name and address: 19 Dutch.

Hate the cladding, hate that mechanical protrusion on top, hate the texture, hate the color scheme, hate the shape. Outside of 8 Spruce Street, this area of Lower Manhattan has the shittiest towers in the city.

I actually like the cladding, the patterns on it break up what would otherwise be a boring box. It would be nicer if the mech stuff on top was surrounded by a parapet though.

What do you find likable about this nasty cladding? It looks straight out of Dubai. In my opinion, this tower would be better off with completely homogeneous blue cladding. It would be super boring, but it probably wouldn't look as trashy. This building really is terrible, and its poor design is amplified by the fact that this part of Manhattan has seen a number of horrible towers built over the past few years. Im not trying to be rude. Im genuinely interested in why you see this as attractive.

Cladding appears similar to the W Hotel by the WTC, and I actually think that the W looks pretty good.

No, that award goes to kips bay, murray hill, yorkville and the rest of the upper east side. I dislike walking around that part of the city with a passion. So many bland, dull, buildings from the 1940's-1970's round those parts, makes for a terrible walking experience. I feel sorry for anyone who actually lives there. First and second avenues are especially bad.

I agree completely with your statement. It would look much better if its completely covered with blue glass without the messy lines on every floor. I can't get how some people find blue glass boxes boring, isn't the 4WTC one of the best things that happened in Manhattan recently?

Wow this really looks like crap. That lame pattern on the curtain wall is tacky as hell, I'd honestly be happier with a simple but elegant box than them trying to fluff up their value engineered architecture by slapping a few withe bands on the facade.

I find the cladding pretty okay. It will at least add a bit of texture to the skyline, other then a blue wall again. It could have been much worse, also this tower won´t be really noticable ion the skyline, so it´s not such a tragic.

4WTC is in a class by itself, the cladding is so perfectly smooth that the building practically disappears under the right lighting. But if you can't make it that quality, then a plain sheer wall of blue glass is just plain boring.
