This is so crazy, in the next decade Dubai is likely to have a 500m+ tower in every major skyscraper district (SZR, Downtown, Meydan City, Creek Harbour x2, JLT, tallest block)

And that by counting projects we already know of! Who knows what other architectural feet Dubai will achieve in the coming years (Who knows the first 1 mile tower might end up in Dubai)

the two twin towers look really tall on google street view already. crazy to think about a tower twice as tall next to it

but not all of these projects will get built. I think Dubai is really hard to predict currently, there are always crazily ambitious projects, I mean a 1km+ tower was under construction before, but you never know what will get on hold or if another global event might have influence. the city is dependand on tourism and tourism can change extremely fast with different situations. I am just amazed that we are in a second boom right now, whether it is just a couple of supertalls or megatalls shooting out of the ground in the end we are about to find out in the coming years.

Well I can tell you one thing that differs Dubai from the rest of the world, is its Sheikh. His highness is one of the greatest if not the greatest ruler present nowadays and when he put his mind on a project he made sure it is done accordingly.

It took immense courage and determination to launch all these megaprojects back in the 2000s I am sure if he wanted to think and take into consideration all factors that can affect his visions nothing of what Dubai achieved nowadays would be present today.

P.S: Dubai's future is brighter than ever and the crown prince of Dubai is as great as his father.

Let's just say he's a great ruler for skyscraper enthusiasts. In many other areas his policies haven't made it anywhere near the 21st century yet.

At least Dubai gets things done, unlike Germany for example. Literally every huge project here is delayed for years, if they get built at all. The costs are oftenly two or three times the original budget, especially when the government is involved the costs always skyrocket.

yeah involvement of the government in big projects has in Germany exactly the opposite effect than for example in China or Dubai.

Reducing bureaucracy used to be the biggest promise of a certain now-chancellor, it was swept under the rug when powr came, and bureaucracy increased even more. That really is something we can envy places like Dubai for. I don't claim developers don't have to fill out any forms there, but compared to over here the process probably goes a hell of a lot faster with a lot less of a hassle.

Only thing that strikes me as weird is how projects are started and just stop, like Dubai Pearl or The Skyscraper. Isn't there some rule for having financing secured? Before you say the question is off-topic, I am asking with this tower in mind, because the amount of time that has passed since it was first announced seems a little worrying.

The render doesn't look very glassy. I really want a transparent double glass facade

Seriously Enitsar Tower, all of the towers in BB and Burj 2020 plus Meydan One. Too many to keep track of.

Berlin Brandenburg International Airport is the best example for bad realization of German mega projects
