The Metropolitan Cathedral, Iași

*The largest Orthodox church in Romania ;The cathedral was consecrated on 23 April 1887, in the presence of King Carol I and Queen Elisabeth, who had donated large sums for the project. In 1889, the relics of Saint Paraschiva, patron saint of Moldavia, were brought from Trei Ierarhi Monastery and continue to attract crowds of pilgrims, particularly on her feast day (October 14)

*The Horezu Monastery or Hurezi Monastery was founded in 1690 by Prince Constantin Brâncoveanu in the town of Horezu, Wallachia, Romania. It is considered to be a masterpiece of "Brâncovenesc style", known for its architectural purity and balance, the richness of its sculpted detail, its treatment of religious compositions, its votive portraits, and its painted decorative works.

Timișoara's Orthodox Cathedral is so beautiful! To think that it took only three years to be built is extraordinary!

Can't wait to see more great Romanian churches!

Yes ,Timişoara Orthodox Cathedral is very beautiful ,for me is the most beautiful Othodox cathedral from Romania.Another beautiful cathedral, again from Timişoara is this Roman-catholic cathedral:

St. George's Cathedral, Timișoara

*The cathedral's foundation stone was put on 6 August 1736. It was designed by Joseph Emanuel Fischer von Erlach from Vienna, then Hans Lechner continued the building from 1750. It was finished by two architects from Timişoara, Johann Theodor Kostka and Carl Alexander Steinlein in 1774. The Cathedral was built in Austrian baroque style and it was dedicated to Saint George, the dioceses patron saint.

Curtea de Argeș Cathedral

*The Cathedral of Curtea de Argeș (early 16th century) is a church in Curtea de Argeș, Romania, located in the grounds of a monastery. It is dedicated to Saint Nicholas.
*A legend say that Radu Negru employing one Meşterul Manole or Manoli as architect. Manole being unable to finish the walls, the prince threatened him and his assistants with death. At last Manole suggested that they should follow the ancient custom of placing a living woman into the foundations; and that she who first appeared on the following morning should be the victim. The other masons warned their families, and Manole was forced to sacrifice his own wife. Thus the cathedral was built. When Manole and his masons told the prince that they could always build an even greater building, Radu Negru had them stranded on the roof so that they could not build something to match it.

Bob Church, Cluj-Napoca

*This is the first Greek-Catholic church that was built in the city of Cluj, Transylvania, at that time part of the Austrian Empire. The name of the church comes from the Romanian noble Ioan Bob, later bishop of the Romanian Greek-Catholic church, who paid for the construction of the church. It was completed in 1803.

Sibiu Lutheran Cathedral

*This is the most famous Gothic-style church in Sibiu, Transylvania, Romania. Its massive 73.34 m high steeple is a landmark of the city. The four turrets situated on top of the steeple were a sign to let foreigners know that the town had the right to sentence to death.
*It was built between 1371 and 1520.

''St. Bartholomeu'' Church ,Braşov

*It was builted in the thirteenth century (ca. 1260), with substantial changes in the XVth century. The original, untouched includes choir and adjacent rooms, including two square chapels that are closed to the east transept arms. The church is similar to that of the book, only that it has three square bays. The west façade there are two towers of which only one is fully executed. Today's Tower built in 1842, replacing the old tower, collapsed in the earthquake of 1822.
