As there is no more land available within corporation limits ,the MCC has askled KIADB not to rehabilitate people within MCC for SEZ project coming up in Surathkal area. This becomes a big problem unless Corporation is extended to Mulki,Moodabidri,Talapady and BC road in the East.That is the only solution left.Currently Mangalore occiupies the third place in terms of area . Bangalore,Hubli/Dharwad and then Mangalore.I think the multi million dollar SEZ` AND PCPIR have pushed up the prices beyong unimaginable levels.Even though the BJP govt wants to shelve the PCPIR which involves aquisition of 80,000 acres they havent done it yet.

Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad sells premium apartments @ less than 4000/sq ft and we definitely cant measure Mangalore, Cochin or other Tier II cities in the same length. Mangalore still has only countable no of commercial or residential projects, but can it be compared to whats going on it those Metros?


Mangalore PCPIR'S investment is a whopping 2,31,000 crores. I am told that bulldozers have already started razing down fertile crops(sad)
I am sure builders are capitalising on this.

I am told that prices for basic apartments have gone up to 3000 plus /sq feet and some of them are now going on some kind of offer for 2500/sq ft. These are basic flats without swiiming pool.[piped gas,CCTV etc and not in the so called posh localities
I had a word with one of the real estate company ( a modest realtor)
I am not sure where this will all lead to.

Mangalore is getting some of the biggest Malls in the south.
Mohtisham city centre with 8 lakh sq feet and five levels of parking will open this December or early next year.PLAMA might be larger.

The proposed MANGALA CORNICHE project runs from Netravathi bridge along the periphery of the city then then reaching Kuloor brigde and from there to Kavoor and Adyar.
Some builders are capitalising on it now itself and new constructions are coming up near to the promenade.
