Earlier you were talking about on more highrise planned on Sturrock Road. Where is it? I think Mohtisham Amity is coming up in front of Skycourt on Attavara Road.

The highrise which is cmg up is in the land shown in the above pic next to Rhine apts. u can see the security like shed already constructed.Amity is cmg up behind skycourt. btwn Income tax office and skycourt there a road which goes to the land and most probably its there.

Like most other roads in town, there are no footpaths and none of the super rich landowners will give any land for road widening either

i have heard that justice saldanha is negotiating with bangalore based builders for a high rise on his ancestral property on sturrock road. apparently, they want rates to reach around 5500 to 6000 per sq. ft before launching the project.

Rupee depreciation makes real estate attractive to NRI

MANGALORE: The depreciating rupee may be a concern for the economy, but builders here are laughing all the way to the bank. The real estate here which was reeling under pressure due to high interest costs and inflation is suddenly active again from the past couple of weeks with a slew of new projects being launched. In the past three weeks 16 new projects totaling a minimum of a thousand apartments have been launched indicating robust demand and stepped up activity in the construction sector here.

PMA Razak, president, Mangalore Chapter of the Confederation of Real Estate Developers' Associations of India (CREDAI), told TOI that the falling rupee has made investment in real estate an attractive proposition for NRIs. Razak said an NRI who wanted to buy property here had indicated that NRIs were averse to buying property in the Middle East due to the uncertain climate and wanted to invest here as rupee had depreciated by 30% which made investment here attractive. Due to rupee depreciation, a Rs 60 lakh worth of property here now costs United Arab Emirates Dirham (AED) 3.75 lakh, which was costing AED 4.44 lakh just a month back.

The same holds good for all Middle Eastern currencies like Saudi Arabian Riyal (SAR), Bahrain Dinar (BHD) and Kuwaiti Dinar (KWD). Razak says 82% of the bookings in ongoing projects from his firm Plama Developers, of which he is the chairman and MD, are NRIs. A project becomes viable if there are 50% bookings and almost all Mangalore projects have close to 60% bookings,'' he said. Also, he notes that there is a strong demand from Mumbai-based Mangaloreans who want a second home in the city. Making investment attractive is the pre launch rates which are Rs 100 to Rs 50 less per sq ft.

At present the going rates for properties in the city range from Rs 4,000 to Rs 4,500 per sq ft and in the outskirts it is Rs 2,700 to Rs 3,500 per sq ft. Inland Infrastructure Developers MD Siraj Ahmed says the inflow of funds into property sector has increased by 25% from the earlier 50% due to rupee depreciation. At the same time not all money is flowing into real estate as NRIs perceive the property prices here are high from returns of investment point of view. So money is also getting locked in high interest deposits,'' said Ahmed whose majority clientele is NRIs.

Govt. urged to set up medical college at Wenlock, Lady Goschen hospitals

Mangalore, May 28: Dr. K. Mohandas Bhandary, Karnataka state Vice President of IMA, has urged the government to set up a new government medical college at two prominent and historic government hospitals of Mangalore for the benefit of poor patients.

He was delivering key-note address ‘IMA-CGP Conference 2012’, hosted by Mangalore branch of Indian Medical Association at Srinivas Institute of Medical Science and Research Centre, Mukka, here on Sunday.

He observed that Government Wenlock Hospital and Government Lady Goschen Hospital in the city are 165 years old institutions and cater to poor patients.

“Government can set up a medical college at these hospitals as this will enable the integrated development of modern facilities and regular upgradation at these hospitals for the benefit of poor patients”, he said.

He also urged that the government to appoint an independent cabinet minister for health and family welfare as these are important issues. “At present health and family welfare come under the chief minister’s portfolio and there is a separate minister only for medical education. An independent minister for health and family welfare will put greater focus to this very important subject,” he said.

Inaugurating the event, CA A Raghavendra Rao, President of Srinivas Group of Colleges, observed that though medicine is considered to be noble profession, it is the responsibility of the people who practice the profession to make it noble through exemplary dedication and ethical practices.

He said though we live in the age of specialisation, it the general practitioners who meet the healthcare needs of the common man. “In olden days the family doctor was like a member of the family. He would help the family in times of need, give sound advice whenever required, even fix marriages between patient families. Today that personal touch is missing,” he said.

The day long conclave included a series of seven scientific sessions dealing with subjects like diabetes, vaginal discharge, learning disabilities in children and primary care in poly trauma patients. The day concluded with a workshop on yoga and stress management.

About 150 general practitioners from various parts of Karnataka attended the conference which was meant to highlight the role of family doctors in community health.

Raghuveer, the Director and Dean of Srinivas Institute of Medical Science and Research Centre; Mumbai based entrepreneur Vijaynath Shetty, IMA Divisional Co-ordinator Dr. Ravindranath Shetty Katpady; IMA Mangaluru Branch President Dr. Jayaprakash Shetty and the Organizing Secretary of the conference Dr. M. Annayya Kulal Ulthur were the other dignitaries who spoke on the occasion.

Dr. M. Annayya Kulal Ulthur proposed the vote of thanks and Dr. Manjunath Shenoy compeered the programme.

Now this showroom can serve customers from Ullal, Deralakatte, Talapadya nd Konaje..
I have seen few of my relatives buy vehicles from Kasargod/Kerala under their in-laws name as they cost cheaper
