BELLEVUE | Lincoln Square II | 42 fl | Pro

Bellevue, Washington will be seeing the addition of 5 towers beginning in 2014. This is an expansion of the Bellevue Collection @ Bellevue Square and Lincoln Square.

The tower seen in the rendering on the far left is the tower seen in the picture below....so you can have some sense of what the site is like currently.

Kemper Freeman plans $1.2 billion expansion in Bellevue
Freeman’s Kemper Development Co. plans 2 million square feet of additional retail, office, hotel and residential space covering more than a block of prime real estate at Northeast 4th Street and Bellevue Way.

By Amy Martinez

Seattle Times business reporter

Eastside real-estate developer Kemper Freeman said Monday he’ll begin construction next year on a massive, $1.2 billion expansion of his shopping and dining complex in downtown Bellevue.

Freeman’s Kemper Development Co. plans 2 million square feet of additional retail, office, hotel and residential space covering more than a block of prime real estate at Northeast 4th Street and Bellevue Way Northeast.

A sky bridge over Bellevue Way would connect both properties, including a small piece of the block where Bellevue Square is.

Freeman, who is pitching the project in Las Vegas at an ongoing gathering of the International Council of Shopping Centers, said the project will be completed by fall 2016.

Freeman has been building public support for the long-anticipated expansion in numerous appearances before local business and civic groups for the past several months.

While Monday’s announcement formalizes his plans, Freeman still must seek local regulatory approval.

Freeman recently paid Khorram Family Investments about $3.13 million for a 0.3-acre property at the northwest corner of Bellevue Way and Fourth Street, paving the way for a pair of planned residential buildings and a boutique hotel near JCPenney and Macy’s. Freeman would demolish a parking ramp and the Khorram family’s old rug store to build out the corner.

On the other side of Bellevue Way, Freeman plans two towers with 700,000 square feet of office space, a 250-room luxury hotel and condominiums or apartments. The buildings would surround the Bellevue Arts Museum and replace an old Safeway store on the site.

In all, the project would add 375,000 square feet of new retail, dining and entertainment space, 500 residential units and 3,700 free parking spaces in two underground garages, Freeman said.

The expansion would increase the size of Freeman’s Bellevue Collection by 50 percent. Freeman has yet to announce any major tenants for the new buildings.

Bellevue's Lincoln Square Expansion Continues to Rise

Quote:
The skyline of Bellevue, Washington, has grown in the last decade to rival its parent city of Seattle, and is continuing in earnest with several new projects in the pipeline.Arguably the largest of those new projects is the Lincoln Square Expansion being developed by Kemper Freeman, well known for his influence in local politics and the owner of the nearby Bellevue Square Mall and Bellevue Collection. Freeman’s Kemper Development Company had also built the original Lincoln Square in 2005, a complex of two towers (an office tower and the Westin Bellevue hotel) located a block north of the expansion.
