Why not? It makes perfect sense to build something you have designs ready for in your desk. They can eventually value engineer it to make it cheaper but I don't think that will happen. Btw really love the design is it Zaha Hadit's work by any chance?

Knew it Normally not really a big fan of her as she's known for not making her designs well incorporated into the surroundings, but as for iconic opera on an isolated island it really works great

The only problem is work has begun without any announcements about the Opera House, which is little annoying

Seeing all those cancelled incredible plans again makes me cry a bit. One Dubai would be one of the most awesome buildings in the world. Something that could be straight out of Star Wars.

It seems nobody can keep Dubai off the skyscraper throne, not Changsha and not Jeddah, nobody

Awesome news. I hope this project will succeed and I hope we'll see renders soon

I still believe it is too early to venture into the next WTB, plus while excited to see the Lagoons project resurrected, I would have preferred a different location, closer to the coast

If it is indeed the opera house that work has commenced on, a press release should go out. It's meant to be an icon for Dubai and after it vanished over 6 years ago, it would be nice to have official confirmation.

I actually like that we're moving away from the coast at long last. The Lagoons will sit nicely on the door step of Meydan, Int'l City and MBRC, creating a whole new area of urban sprawl. And Dubai Creek regains some of its lost glory

+1

I must confess that I would prefer a One Dubai with "only" 800 meters rather than a 1000 meter needle-like

Is this the 3rd or 4th 1000m+ tower in the Pro, App or Prep stage?

Amazing times we live in!

3 X 1km towers.

Haven't you heard? Everything what's not pyramidal needle isn't possible and practical

I never liked one dubai from aesthetic point of view but I have to admit regardless of your personal taste the structure would be quite impressive. And those sky bridges at 600m

Dunno, I saw the work from Al Khail road today, and while it was intense and serious, it also was concentrated on a strip along the water line, so who knows.

Let's wait and see

Could be show holes, a sales centre, soil testing, the opera house, who knows?! We just have to wait.

Thanks for the confirmation of the work
