I agree. The outer walls of the pit seem to be in place already. If they can build straight on top of the bedrock, they won't need piling.

Eichner's tower will be a nice addition to this handsome group!

I've got a feeling that the tower is U/C ... already 2 months since Lex' last update.

45 East 22nd Builds Foundation, Sales Impressive, Cantilever Too!

45 East 22nd Street are impressive, and so are the sales! A quick look at Streeteasy shows that at least 20 of the expected 83 units, ranging in price from $2.5M to $20M, are in contract already in contract. Buyers are not even batting an eyelash at the $3300/sq ft average sale price. Then again, why should they? Every new luxury tower is commanding these prices, and here you have the opportunity to tower over neighbor One Madison, The Met Life Building, Madison Square Park and virtually everything else in sight.

I really like how the tower's base meets the street. This is the way how skyscrapers should be integrated (vs "towers in the park"). And most of the time, New York does a good joob.

I think this one is way too tall for the neighbourhood... at least the street-level presence will be appealing, in stone.
