AFAIK topping out is still sometime in September 2014.
IMHO it does seem fast, but then they are also working at night.

As far as I can tell, progress on the adjacent Amtrak gateway tunnel box also seems good. My interpretation of the hardcoreshuttrebug photo below is that the tunnel box drill rigs have switched over to working on the north perimeter wall. Photo is looking west at ERY of the West Side yards with the 11th Ave viaduct displaying it's usual trucks. The drill rigs seem to be close to the north side of the Amtrak tunnel box work area, previously they were on the south side next to the remaining sections of the LIRR MoE bldg..
I hope somebody provides some shots from the 11th Ave viaduct looking east.

Another jump up for the core formwork today! This looks more normal floor-sized, as opposed to the last large jump for the lofty lobby.

They've got a rebar trench running just south of the HL spur, which I can only assume is to support the "legs" of the cantilevered section. There's much larger steel poking up vertically in a few places. And you may notice a large steel beam sticking up above the HL at the far end of the photo:

I took a few more close-up pics. There was quite the light show coming from inside the protective covering. They were welding up a storm in there.

You can really see exactly where the columns will rise now.

Does anyone know when this building will start to rise at a quicker pace?
I'm guessing soon as they've got to rise another 48/49 floors within 10months

So probably once all of the columns are in place on the other side of the highline?

(I'm not saying the progress is slow, but it doesn't seem upto speed with how long the expected topping out/completion date is supposed to be)

Forest of columns! To you New Yorkers, if you haven't come down to see it in person yet, now is a great time. Lots of action to see from the HL.

It does look pretty wonderful... but the realist in me can't help but think of all the runoff, leaves and other muck dropping onto people's heads as they pass underneath.

I think you're referring to the bowl structure built on top of the High Line structure itself?
Leaves will definitely make their way down to the HL structure and the street below. But runoff/muck is caught by all the drains/plumbing being built into the HL phase 3 rehab/redo.

HorsePunckKid has a few photos of the "layers" captured during his art tour 11/16/2013. This is an example of the current work on Phase 3 WEST of the Coach Tower. I assume the base in this photo is the actual rehabbed structural deck:

This original HorsePunchKid photo & more of his HL Phase 3 tour photos here:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/horsepu...n/photostream/

& here's the transition from HL phase 2 to HL phase 3 captured by j-biz today. You're looking NW in this photo towards Weehawken, NJ across the Hudson/North River. Nice capture of yellow masts of the drills at work in the West Side Yards also
And as j-biz stated today: if you haven't come down to see it in person yet, now is a great time. Lots of action to see from the HL.:

themodulorman has new photos

flickr's themodulorman has posted new photos, including this panorama from the tower core looking west towards Weehawken, NJ.
Nice overview of the current state of the overall Hudson yards development. Shows the three drills working on the Amtrak Gateway tunnel box excavation walls, the gating project for the East Rail Yard overbuild platform project. The January 2014 start for the overbuild platform foundation construction is not far away: it's currently 28 degrees Fahrenheit at the site, with tonight's low forecast to be 20 degrees F...

And for people who haven't been to the Phase 2 High Line Park, here's an overview of the "viewing platform" at the northern end where many photos of the tower construction are taken from. The photo is looking south. You can see the construction work of applying the finishes to the Phase 3 High Line Park at photo bottom & right. A green construction barrier at photo bottom left delineates the Phase 3 High Line finishing construction zone from the Phase 3A (my term) high Line soon to be overbuilt by the Coach Tower. A black car (probably stuck in backed up traffic on it's way to the Lincoln Tunnel) is visible on the last open lane of W. 30th st , between the yellow concrete-pour column forms and the Phase 2 High Line steel.

Note that his flickr photostream (link above) has other interesting Coach tower/Hudson yards photos from 11/22 I did not post.
