It'll speed up for sure. But september is ambitious indeed.

Looks like they've started on the columns along the perimeter, I recon we'll see a core jump within a week now that more vertical construction is commencing

OR they don't want it to get damaged, OR they don't want it to get stolen.

Thanks for that info.

Certainly seems ambitious, based upon the photos posted. It looks like the 3 large Bauer vertical drills are sitting idle, as they seem to have been the last few weeks.

Any sign of the arrival of new drill(s) for "riding the rails with specially engineered equipment to drill through soil and rock."??

The NYC area winter weather has been bad for outdoor construction but they have a done a lot of further dis-assembly of the remaining portion of the the LIRR's MoE building. I assume that is for whatever foundations & columns will go through the building. This ILNY photo also shows what might be the start of the dis-assembly of the MOE's south roof parapet. Don't know the photo's date:

Yes, it's new-ish, but we've had a couple of recent snow storms and it looks (to me) like there isn't enough snow to be this week. The photos are scaled by flickr, which does not propagate the EXIF data for scaled photos...

Nothing new as far as I can tell. But I did not venture over today, as it is stupendously disgusting outside.

Are they going to leave the steel skeleton of the MOE building intact?

I thought that was the intention, from the published Nov 2012?? study. T-P has to rebuild the entire structure for the LIRR so anything they can recycle is profit.. And they have to build a replacement "control tower" to replace the one in the 2nd floor of the AC/DC substation/structure north of the WSY's 10th Ave throat.

I assume T-P has to have a replacement control tower built & operational by the LIRR before T-P removes the old 1980s one...

flickr's hardcoreshutterbug has posted a shiort (art-ified) walk along the west end (12th Ave) of the LIRR's West Side Yard which illustrates how many trains are buffered (& cleaned) in the WSY during the day. If T-P screws up something related to yard operations, the LIRR will get a LOT of feedback from it's customers

Construction schedules are ****ed up all around the city right now. The weather has been extremely disruptive this winter, especially for operations such as concrete pouring, steel setting, or anything involving cranes. Just getting trucks to the job has been nightmarish.

From the HY Facebook page
Quote:
All the snow has been removed from the fourth floor and we're working on another concrete pour.

Hopefully that means we'll see another core jump soon!

Yep and basically either below or just above freezing temps forecast for the next six days.

This is consistent with the NOAA Climate Forecast System Model which suggests some persistence to the COLD east pattern we've been experiencing in the NYC area this season.

Nice blue sky today though.
