It's finally starting to take shape!
I really do hope the pace of construction does pick up soon... Even though ive been saying this since after the first floor or 2

The new-to-me site fieldcondition.com has posted various 10HY photos taken 4/20. Here's an example, taken from just west of the High Line 10th Ave spur.
Edit PS: Field Condition is a registered user at SSP...

from fieldcondition.com, the 10 HY post: http://fieldcondition.com/blog/2014/...-april-20-2014

Also a nice overview taken from the High Line Phase III curve looking east:

it's still tough to imagine how massive this one tower alone will be.

We got a timelapse update! Predictably, it doesn't show much progress.

Wish they'd give us a live link to the Earthcam.

Yah.

At this point it might be worthwhile to review what was stated by Related/Jay Cross/etc. way back in December 2013. I note that the retail podium is forecast to open in late '17:

the retail complex will open in late '17, the north tower will open in late '18, and with that all the public space," Cross said.

http://www.ny1.com/content/news/1997...well-under-way

And also from December '13 reportage:
“I’m happy to say that we’re right on schedule, and right on budget,” said Ronald Wackrow, the executive vice president of Related who is overseeing the Hudson Yards construction, who made an appearance at the “first birthday” event. - See more at: http://chelseanow.com/2013/12/tall-c....AYVSTSa5.dpuf

And more recently in March '14:

Quote:

Fingers crossed
Any time you have a project of this size and this complexity, you really are keeping your fingers crossed that the business cycle is going to help you,” Mr. Jones said. “Right now it looks like the New York City economy is doing pretty well. There’s not a national recession on the horizon, that most people are predicting at the moment, but that can always change.”
In that same March 2014 Bloomberg reportage December's Mr. "right on schedule, and right on budget"
Quote:
Amtrak is also in the process of building a tunnel across the yards to accommodate a possible future expansion of service across the Hudson River. It will be completed in October, Mr. Wackrow said, just in time for the platform to go over it.

The cranes will be have to be jumped soon. They did not have lifting frames attached when they were erected. These can be added, which is rarely done, or new cranes can be installed in the core-similar to what was done at 432 Park Ave.

People have posted that this building will be all-concrete, even though a steel fabricator was named when construction started.
They are installing a very large wall around the building at around the 10th floor that looks like a transfer girder-to switch over to steel. Also, there is a storage/change house container on the site west of the building marked Stonebridge-a steel erector.

Thanks for the info.

Too bad we will be missing the principal local photographer for the site, namely j-bizz.

Can you post photos of what you observe?
I'm personally tempted to go into the city this weekend & check this & the WTC out...

Thank you.
Tomorrow is today, Friday and it's forecast to be a nice day today.
I'm dropping somebody off at the LIRR station within the hour & I might go along for the trip to scenic Penn Station...

I may have gone a little overboard with the pictures yesterday, so bear with me. We're taking a 360 degree walking tour of 10 Hudson Yards.

Here is the eastern face of the building, seen through the dirty window of my now former office:

Here is a magically levitating cherry picker on 30th street looking west:

Southern side of the building from the High Line:

From 30th St looking east:

The western face of the building, from the 11th ave viaduct. It's a bit hard to see in the photo, but there are four upright steel beams in the foreground. Perhaps they are starting the next level of the platform on the southern edge of the yard?

Looking southeast across the rail yards, still from 11th ave:

From 34th St looking south across the 55 HY site and Hudson Blvd Park. It's at this exact spot that a couple stopped me and asked if this was where the Twin Towers had been. It was dumb luck that 1WTC was visible, which made it easy to answer their follow-up question.

Finally, a shot from 10th ave looking southwest:

All photos from my flickr page.

Very nice pictures!

You would think by now that people would know the difference between Lower Manhattan, which is where the WTC is, and Midtown West. I guess some people are just that ignorant.

It appears that one of the cranes has jumped! Or maybe I''m abit late for that?

Great photos though! It's gradually starting to take shape and it's already looking huge!
