It's a very complex project.

So far the overbuild platform steel erection progress follows what was shown in the video they released in March 2014. The snip below is from the 00:10 mark of that Hudson-Yards-Platform-Construction-Video. The green is the the overbuild steel: the photos how they have only erected the steel on the left (west) side of the green so far. The tannish/gray structure that the green is overlayed on is the now mostly demolished LIRR MoE building, which will rise from the fill again.
I do not know how closely the video snip's progress of 10 HY matches the current reality. 30th street is along the snip bottom with 10th Ave along the right:

"hudson yards" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbRxT50jjUo

The next phase of the video's steel construction (at the ~00:11 mark) should be interesting to see on the ground becasue they would be spanning across the Amtrak excavation (maybe backfilled at the eastern end by then?) and the assumed-demolished LIRR vehicle ramp down from 10th Ave.

"hudson yards" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbRxT50jjUo

NYguy over @ ssp has posted a bunch of 10HY photos from yesterday.

This one is taken from the west side of the 11th Ave viaduct looking east. You can see the aforementioned overbuild steel above the black "Hudson Yards" construction shield on the east side of the viaduct if you follow the Empire State Building down:

I wouldn't be surprised if the yards experienced a bit of flooding after those storms, and more rain today. That wouldn't effect 10 HY as much as the rest of construction

Q - What does the Building Enforcement Safety Team (BEST) do?

A - The BEST Squad’s responsibilities include inspecting high rise construction sites ("Site Safety" buildings) and private demolition projects. Site Safety buildings are new buildings of 15 stories or 200 feet and taller, or lot coverage of 100,000 square feet or more.

For those not in the NYC area but who have heard about Hurricane (Tropical Storm??) ARTHUR:
Quote:
...ARTHUR PASSING WELL EAST OF THE MID-ATLANTIC COAST...
2:00 PM EDT Fri Jul 4
Location: 38.5°N 72.4°W
Moving: NE at 25 mph
Min pressure: 977 mb
Max sustained: 90 mph

Which translates into people are getting back to setting off their illegal fireworks and I'm contemplating grilling steaks outdoors in the evening in the eastern NYC area.

Tomorrow is forecast as another beautiful summer day & the High Line Park south of the 10 HY site should be crowded. A good day for photography, in other words.

Yes, it doesn't look like Arthur will be a problem in NY.

Based upon the @HudsonYardsExp photo I reposted below, I assume work on the 10 HY tower (right side, middle) is proceeding. Photo looking down (& NE) from theOhm building with it's shadow falling on the site:

The crane is back for the terra firma platform & looks like more platform above the LIRR MoE building remnants too...

the stop work order was for the tower proper, the terra firma was allowed to keep working.

the stop work order got a partial lift monday.

there are still some restrictions on hoisting for the tower cranes.

but i have more bad news...the boom hoist cable on the south tower crane is damaged and needs to be replaced. for now that crane is out of service...

The platform construction looks identical to the WTC memorial construction.

IMHO, what is shown in the recent photos is the "simple" overbuild platform construction. When they start heading "further north" (towards 33rd st) and have to bridge the active LIRR tracks at the yard is when it should get real interesting. This is where the big trusses come in. However, before they get to the active tracks in the throat they will have to also bridge (I assume) across the Amtrak Gateway tunnel concrete casing, which they still are building in the excavation.

I've reposted the snip below that shows when the backfilled excavation is overbuilt & the 10th Ave vehicle ramp is demolished. The now-existent excavation does not appear in the base photography that was used in the HY platform construction video that this screen grab was taken from, but the now mostly demolished/disassembled LIRR MoE building does appear. The grayish overlay to the left of the 10HY render is the terra-firma platform whose steel erection should be finishing soon:

"hudson yards" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbRxT50jjUo

And the ~day-old reality:

The next relevant frame from the HY platform construction video shows them working their way up to bridging the throat. The tracks with the trains on them that have been overlaid by the polygon have already have been put out of commisionn by the LIRR w/ some LIRR operations relocated temporarily to an improved LIRR yard near the old Shea stadium. Related/Oxford paid the LIRR $10M?? for that temp relocation:

"hudson yards" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbRxT50jjUo

And the image below (looking east) from the HY NY facebook page shows that they have THREE caisson drills on the north side of the Amtrak tunnel excavation (south of the still-existent vehicle ramp). I assume they are working on more caisson foundations to extend the overbuild platform further north. LOTS of stuff going on:

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=1&theater
Note that the photo above also shows the blue, taller, south, tower crane on the right of the tower: "the boom hoist cable on the south tower crane is damaged and needs to be replaced. for now that crane is out of service..." -thejack05 yesterday

And the Geoff Butler photo below shows the ~2 week old status of the Amtrak tunnel casing that has to be finished & backfilled (I assume) before the overbuild platform can be built on top. This photo view is looking west from ~10th Ave, the opposite direction from the photo above. Erected overbuild platform steel is in the upper left of this photo. The caisson drills in the photo above have to avoid the shallow 1980s vintage Amtrak Empire Connection tunnel that is to the right (north) of the current Amtrak excavation. The older tunnel concrete casing is being used as the base for the temp 3-high jersey-barrier retaining wall.

Current mash-up:"we recently got a tour of the construction site"

From today's businessinsider.com
Quote:
We recently got a tour of the construction site and renderings of what Hudson Yards will look like when it's complete. Keep reading to see what the future holds for Manhattan's West Side.
EDIT: Photos are from the end of June, from a tour also taken by Maria Diamond of WCBS 880.

The photos look recent but older than the 7/9/2014 photos posted on the HYNY FB page. The current HYNY FB photos show that the caisson drills are now south of the vehicle ramp, between the ramp and excavation/trench. (EDIT: Photos are from the end of June)
However, this web site continues to use some of the outdated-by-reality diagrams, such as the March 2014 GIF timeline, which contains this frame for 2014, which ain't gonna happen:

Still, it has pretty renderings and some newish photos.

The BI photo by Megan Willet (below) is looking west down the to-be-demolished 10th Ave LIRR vehicle ramp with 10 HY barely visible at left. At least two caisson drills are visible at right:

Here's what it looks like now. We've got a long way to go!

Megan Willett/Business Insider

Also shot from the same ramp by Megan Willet (below), but now looking ~south with the remains of the LIRR MoE building and 10 HY rising behind it. That 2015 render on right ain't gonna happen in 2015...

There are five main skyscrapers planned for the Eastern Rail Yard. The first is 10 Hudson Yards, which will rise 895 feet above 30th Street and 10th Avenue, and have 1.7 million square feet of space. Coach, L'Oreal, Fairway, and SAP will be future tenants.

Thank you for the photo and I hope you enjoyed your visit to NYC.

the photo is looking west down W30th street with the current 10 HY stump towering over the High Line 10th Ave spur on left.

I've taken the liberty of snipping & reposting from the foftovandaag original to frame the photo more like Related/Oxford's rendering of 10 HY in 2015, with the snip's bottom being the High Line platform. AFAIK the HL's 10th Ave spur is being used as storage for the 10 HY construction:

snip from fotovandaag original at https://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/14662902913/

I don't recall if there is a firm decision on the final design for the High Line's 10th Ave spur, which appears to be the rendering's viewpoint:
