Hello everyone i had a question pop into mind about the overall complex when i was checking up on this building, so excuse me for being slightly off topic but i remember hearing that there would be a centerpiece in the complex (as the developer says) will be as iconic as the Eiffel tower in Paris, are they still planning on putting one here or has that just kind of went away?
However back on topic i really admire the design of this building its a shame its taking this long to construct

Hello back at ya.

This question was asked a couple of days ago on the 30 HY (& retail podium per my reasoning) thread. I suggest popping over there and checking out the replies:

text from the HY FB page for this photo: Eastern Rail Yard Platform - July 2014 - Photo Credit: Geoff Butler
Photo is looking east. Looks like they are making steady progress on the the terra firma platform/Culture Shed Plaza/Fairway Market.

PS: I had my first, indirect, experience with Fairway Market in the last few days. Namely, a box of Silver Palate Kitchen Brand cereal which had prominent "Grain Berry" text but turned out to be basically honey nut cheerios...

Good to hear.

If you want to see virtual "progress" on 10HY, you can view the video "Hudson Yards" posted in March of this year. The ~1:02 mark (below) shows this looking east from atop the overbuild platform. This render implies to me that the retail podium (north adjacent to 10HY) will rise before 30 HY does. In this render 10 HY is on the right, retail podium in middle & 30 HY is not yet blocking the view of One Penn Plaza and the Empire State Building.
So maybe sometime in 2015:

It seems to imply that the core will start rising more quickly than the floors.

Yeah, the video implies that. The most recent overhead imagery that I recall is the MaximPierre photos from 7.26.14 & that shows the core one or two floors higher than the floors themselves.
Hopefully we'll find out in the next few months what the real progression is.

Just as a reminder, the diagram below is what was with the NYC DoB back in 11/2012. The diagram includes the Culture Shed Plaza/Fairway Market/etc. next to & underneath the High Line. The 10 HY tower in the video and the DoB diagram seem to match fairly well, IMHO:

AFAIK, per NYC DoB ZD1 Zoning Diagram.
Zoning Diagram

Quote:
The Zoning Diagram (ZD1 Form) must be submitted prior to approval for New Building (NB) and Alteration Enlargement (ALT) projects. If changes are made that affect the initial ZD1, a new ZD1 must be submitted with subsequent applications or post approval amendments.

Upon approval of the ZD1 application, the diagram will be posted online.
http://www.nyc.gov/html/dob/downloads/pdf/zd1_guide.pdf

I'll be interested in seeing similar for 30 Hudson Yards (formal street address xyx W 33rd Street, NY, NY), since that has started DoB submittals.

Concrete poured Wednesday for 15th & 16th floors

BUT, the HY FB page "Fun Fact Friday" for today states that
Quote:
On Wednesday the crew poured more than 2,600 cubic yards of concrete for the AMTRAK tunnel and Coach’s 15th and 16th floors at 10 Hudson Yards.
https://www.facebook.com/HudsonYards...type=1&theater

And they include a crummy, low-res photo I'm not going to bother re-posting. It's 2014, even on the far west side of NY, NY: why the crummy photos???

Yea the violation was for either falling debris or risk of... Today however the full stop work order has been downgraded to partial. Hopefully they rectify the situation ASAP and move this puppy in full throttle.

Flickr's themodulorman photographs elevation 225'-6" on a 10 HY column August 8th:

10 HY photos from 8.14.2014

The photo below was taken from the top of the 33rd street stairs to the MTA 7 subway vent building, which are basically level with block 1 of the Hudson Park & Boulevard. So I'd expect the viewpoint to be basically level with the Culture Shed Plaza west adjacent to 10 HY, which seems to be correct. Looking SE, with the rusty-ish steel of the overbuild platform in front of 10 HY and the the culture shed plaza to the right of 10HY:

And the reality of 10th Ave on a beautiful summer day. Photo taken from the east side of 10th Ave looking SW, with the High Line's 10th Ave spur on left:

And a mostly looking west photo. With excavation on the west side of 10th Ave - this MIGHT be a water main improvement. The deepest (~600 foot) shaft for the Manhattan section of Water Tunnel #3 is between 10th Ave and 10 HY, which is why I think it is set back from 10th Ave.

And another looking mostly west with the High Line's 10th Ave spur on left and more support-of-excavation for the ?water main? along the bottom

Shot looking east from the south sidewalk of W30th Street, east of 11th Ave. High Line is along the bottom, with the tree masking the gate that currently divides the two High Line sections (under-construction on left)

And, for further current context, this photo is looking east from the west sidewalk of the 11th Ave viaduct, between 31st & 30th streets. I assume the cranes in the midground are working on the Amtrak Gateway tunnel concrete casing. The DSNY garbage trucks will have to be stored someplace else when Hudson Yards opens, and I assume NYC is working on building that "someplace else":
