New tenant!

Quote:
VaynerMedia, an advertising and content-producing company specializing in social-media placement, plans to take space at the building, Gary Vaynerchuk, co-founder and chief executive officer, said in an e-mail. The agreement is for about 90,000 square feet (8,400 square meters).

It's getting tall

Photo from the HYNY FB page today. Looking NW from some floor of 10 HY. Nice view of the STILL-under-construction Hudson Park & Boulevard...

Starting to plant stuff, though, so it must be close to completion.

Yeah.
Winter's coming.
A friend is leaving on an 8-day Caribbean cruise on the NCL Breakaway this weekend,. The NCL Breakaway might already be at the "Manhattan Cruise Terminal" in top left of photo (behind the USS Intrepid museum). Caribbean sounds nice at this time of year in the NYC area, dunno about the cruise part...

The 7 subway extension access shaft still has the big orange vent tube sticking out of it.

Nice view, though. And it's a magical time of year in Manhattan! Tourist bux are important.

Stay warm.

The park looks great.

I hope that when Javits goes, a lot of green space will be part of the future development.

December 1, 1954 Aerial View from Hudson River looking East. Piers 72-73-74. From about 500 ft. alt. Time : 10:00 A.M.

You can see some freight cars still in use at that time over on the left.

no place to put them and thus you see the struggle of transit in new york.

Yea, buses have been parking there for years. Much like the rail yard holds trains during the day for the evening rush, buses that came in the morning wait out the day there.

The core is 4 floors above the first major setback. Getting close to the halfway point!

Yeah.

The buses do go away, but then they come back.

They're parked to feed into or out of one of the io ports for the Lincoln Tunnel, namely Dyer Ave.
AFAIK, the southernmost section of Dyer Ave was built to support the south tube of the Lincoln Tunnel. The south tube opened in 1957 and is the most recent of the Hudson River tunnels. It also might be the LAST automobile tunnel built under the Hudson River.

Tidbit from nycroads.com:
Quote:
THE LINCOLN TUNNEL TODAY: According to the Port Authority, the Lincoln Tunnel carries approximately 120,000 vehicles per day (AADT), making it the busiest vehicular tunnel in the world.
