Branding Company Taking Space at 10 Hudson Yards
Another 90,000 Square feet leased
http://commercialobserver.com/2014/1...-hudson-yards/

Quote:
VaynerMedia, a brand consulting agency with a focus on social media, is taking 90,000 square feet at Related Companies and Oxford Properties Group‘s 10 Hudson Yards on the Far West Side, Bloomberg News reported.

This is the developers’ first office lease deal at what will be a 52-story, 1.7-million-square-foot commercial and retail building since the beginning of 2013, the publication noted.

VaynerMedia has locations at 315 Park Avenue South and in San Francisco and Los Angeles, according to the company’s website. Neither VaynerMedia nor Related immediately responded to a request for comment.

The future home of Coach, L’Oreal, SAP AG and Fairway Market, 10 Hudson Yards is set to be complete in 2015, with additional office buildings numbered 30, 50 and 55 to be finished in late-2018, 2019 and 2017, respectively, as Commercial Observer previously reported. Time Warner is the lead occupant, with office space totaling more than 1 million square feet at 30 Hudson Yards.

Related and Oxford Properties Group are developing the 28-acre project which will encompass more than offices, 5,000 residences and a public school, plus other retail and entertainment tenants. A restaurant pavilion will be included on the border on the 11th Avenue side.

I tried to estimate the building's height by comparing it to the buildings close to it in the pics you folks posted and I came up with a height of 105 meters or 344 feet. If any of you have more accurate info please let me know and I'll correct my diagram

To think that it's the shortest of the rail yards is awesome!

Will the train lines still be working underneath the buildings when they're completed?

Oh most definitely, that's the whole purpose of the platforms. Otherwise they'd just build on Terra Firma and save themselves a heck of a lot of money and effort.

The rail yard HAS to still exist: it enables operation of the largest user of NY Penn Station, which is the MTA's LIRR. Overbuilding the western side of the MTA/LIRR's West Side Storage Yard is the Related/Oxford plan for Phase II. Phase II buildings would include a public school.
Just like the current Phase I construction, a concrete casing for Amtrak's Gateway Project trans-Hudson tunnels would have to be built via cut & cover construction. Phase II is so far in the future that I have no idea what levels of public-infrastructure-under-funding insanity the USofA might have sunk into.

If you read the linked article note that Newark, NJ has a Penn Station also along with NY's Penn Station. They are named after/built by the long extinct Pennsylvania Railroad. The LIRR does NOT use the cross-Hudson tunnels; Amtrak & NJTransit do, but NJT does mid-day train storage across the EAST River @ Amtrak's Sunnyside Yards, in Queens, NY.
