Welcome to SSC Richardcornish,

There are quite a few people like you mentioned, but it's best just to ignore them than get drawn in. If you find someone has stepped over the line, contact a moderator or flag the offensive post. SSC tries to keep on top of that sort of thing so that the site remains a pleasant, informative, and enjoyable forum for all.

Excuse me,
I really hate say this.
Your source, SSP(skyscraperpage.com) is still notoriously inaccurate.
They didn't fully update Seoul's buildings DATA, They just added and registered only few famous recent buildings into their DATA.

I can easily find missing buildings of Seoul on SSP (I hope that they see my post here.)
Here are my quick missing buildings of Seoul on SSP.(Of course, all these buildings are over 100m.)

1. Yongsan Park Xi tower A - 36 floors - completed in 2005
2. Yongsan Park Xi tower B - 36 floors - completed in 2005
3. Yongsan Park Xi tower C - 36 floors - completed in 2005

13 Namsan Ssangyong platinum tower B - 33 floors - Completed in 2011
14 Yongsan Acro tower 1 - 32 floors - completed in 2007

18. Yongsan CJNINE park 1 - 32 floors - completed in 2007
19 Yongsan CJNINE park 1 - 32 floors - completed in 2007
Can I go on? I can bring tons of missing buildings of Seoul but I will stop here.

All these buildings in this photo are NOT listed on SSP even though most of them were completed 7 years gao. That' s why SSP is NOT updating Seoul's builings into their DATA.

Emporis has 465 listed and the Shanghai government says there is +800, literally double the amount. At Gaolumi if you make up enough buildings to double the count someone will notice. I doubt people are even creative enough to "invent" over 50 buildings and there is only so much you can round up. Also the point of this list is the see the general standings, we will never know the exact count.
Shanghai Municipal Housing Security and Building Administration Bureau says there are 1066 building over 30 storeys in 2011.

Now it may be around 1200.

Because Hong Kong had first highrise in 1963 , and Shanghai built first 100m+(roof height) in 1987. Then, after the first skyscraper boom 1978-1993 , Hong Kong has around 600-700 buildings 100m+, and exceeds New York(~550 highrise in 1993) to become the city with most highrise . In the same period , Shanghai has just around 40

Since 1995, both cities began the second skyscraper boom. But, Hong Kong has average 100-120 buildings >100m completed each year !!
And Shanghai average 60-80 buildings completed each year.

San Francisco Bay Area skyscrapers (100+ meters):

San Francisco:
built: 74
under construction: 4
approved: 11 (5 are undergoing site prep right now)
proposed: 15

Oakland:
built: 7
under construction: 0
approved: 0
proposed: 3

That's it. San Jose has a 300' height limit in downtown due to the airport, and no suburbs have anything above 100 meters built or planned. There are a couple of suburban towers that reach up to around 90 meters though.

My point exactly. It's easier to ignore than to make up buildings.
