Also a poll at YLE about the fate of makasiinirauniot. I have changed my mind and want to preserve them. A sauna or a restaurant doesnt matter. That place needs some basic red brick.

Simply amazing one...Woven in the design of the museum is the rich and vibrant Nordic culture.

Construction for the new terminal in West harbour has started.
Should be finished by Spring 2017 in time of Tallinks new ship.

Below pic of the old terminal.

What Kalasatama looks like at the moment. This is where the main cluster of towers will go.

SRV has left their proposal for redevelopment of Bunkkeri in Jätkäsaari, Helsinki. Proposal below will be processed in early 2016 by City of Helsinki’s Sports Committee and Real Estate Committee. Same goes for new city plan proposal that should go through City Planning Committee in early 2016.
Construction is expected to start in summer 2017.

In collaboration with the City of Helsinki, SRV is planning to develop a new life for the Bunkkeri, a building situated in the Jätkäsaari district of Helsinki. The goal is to create a new 13-storey landmark, combining diverse sports facilities, a swimming hall and more than 300 apartments in a unique location and landscape.
-
-
The required sports facilities will occupy nearly half of the Bunkkeri’s building rights, total of appr. 34,000 square metres in floor area. The facilities will comprise various ball-game areas, a fitness centre and a 300 metre-long running track surrounding the sports courts. The current Bunkkeri building’s three uppermost floors will be demolished, and above the sports facilities will be built ten new residential floors, offering stunning urban and sea views from their glazed balconies. The implementation of the project will require a change to the city plan. The project’s architecture will combine the old concrete warehouse building with its impressive and highly recognisable urban presence with new modern residential design.

Two more:

Bunkkeri as it is now is the large concrete box on the lower right corner on the pic below. It used to be port warehouse.

Very nice! Looks a bit like the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg. Same concept at least.
