Zaragoza - Parque Metropolitano del Agua Luis Buñuel (Metropolitan Water Park Luis Buñuel)

Hello:

I want to talk about the Metropolitan Water Park Luis Buñuel located in Zaragoza.

It was built in 2008 while the opossite side of an avenue was being set for an international exhibition.

Today, just five years after opening, it is the biggest park in the city (more than 700.000 people in 2013) and has being improved in several corners.

First of all, location will be here
https://maps.google.es/maps?q=zarago...ag%C3%B3n&z=15

in the "C" that the Ebro river makes in the city. I am sorry but... google has not updated that side for a while.

This is its official webpage

http://www.parquedelagua.com/

and the park map

Clicking here
http://www.parquedelagua.com/index.p...rque-del-agua/
the map is interactive but I'm sorry, information is given only in Spanish.

There is too many information and there are too many pictures in the webpage.

I am going to submit here only the main one and we will have time to talk about the other ones

It is a stunning aerial picture (source: the official webpage) and we can see the Ebro river, the canals, the Water Tower, 3rd millenium bridge, etc... and in the right (not seen in the picture) the central railway station

The following pictures that I'm going to post have been taken by myself.

The park has a very interesting botanical area. Part of it is related just to vegetables or other things you can find in countryside in the surroundings. Nothing related to exotic plants but the most typical plants and vegetables with their information in the middle of the park.

Here you have an example.
Ahead we have the Water tower... built in 2008 for the international exhibition. It is quite difficult to make a picture of the park without it because it is located just in the centre. It makes a very nice parkscape

There are too many resorts inside the park, incluiding a golf course, spa, gym, restaurants and so on.

This is a picture of an adventure area.
It will be amazing but this picture is taken just about 50m away from last one!!

Another botanical garden picture. This time we have ahead the "third millenium bridge". It is just a bridge that closes an inner avenue ring joining both sides of the river in the city

Not only typical plants and vegetables but also typical trees.

In the region of Aragon, where Zaragoza is its capital, there are a great deal of vineyards and olive trees areas

In the same picture you have a little vineyard in the left and later, in the right, several olive trees... and really... very near to the other pictures.
It is a park with a lot of contrasts inside.

Zaragoza has a touristic bus service with a route that makes stops near the main monuments or areas to be visited.
This park has one of those stops as you can see in the picture.

It is the typical service where you buy a ticket and you can get on and off while all the day

And... from the SAME point where last picture was taken and having a 180º tour.... we can see the Water Tower. As I said, it is stunningly located in the centre of the park

It is possible to get into a little train and make a tour inside the park as well as the near area of the international exhibition, today refurbished partially as citizen area, partially as business and administration offices

Despite Zaragoza is an inner city, located far away from the coast... we can say we have a beach.

The "Ebro beaches" are just like a swimming pool but instead of having green or that stuff besides the pool, they have sand. Hence their name

and, turning back, we can see the railway and bus station. It is located in the other side of the river indeed.

River is not seen in the picture but located, more or less, after the dark tree

Two important details in this picture.

First of it... you can see a small Golf course (only 9 holes) but located inside the city. No need to go away to practice golf.

But... ahead you have a huge waterwheel. It was built in Syria and given as a present when the international exhibition in 2008

There is a very nice initiative taken by town hall.

In the whole city, using little spaces (some of them where it is hard to built anything because its location) they have prepared them as vegetable patches.
They are divided in 40 sq m patches and rented to anyone who want to grow vegetables. They do not need to go away from the city.

Wanna grow some fresh tomatoes?. Just rent a patch and grow them. You will get them free... they are yours!

Just the northern side of the park.

After the parked trucks (little forest) the park has its bound

In the left side of the picture there are some blue pannels. It is a ring motorway 2+3x3+2
