They are all better than Beijing South. I was taking HSR to Shanghai from Beijing South yesterday afternoon. It's large but too crowded. Beijing should have 2 more HSR stations like Beijing South.

yes. With all the stores opening Hongqiao station (as well as Beijing South) looks like a giant shopping mall. But Hongqiao is bigger in size so it's not as bad as Beijing South. Both stations should have been designed larger considering the fast increasing HSR crowd.

Beijing also has a HSR station at Beijing West. So where should the third be?

And then everybody would have been bitching about how Chinese waste taxpayer money on empty white elephants.

Did the design of either station allow for future expansion once the need has been demonstrated by the crowds?

Is the plane crowd at Hongqiao also increasing fast?

And how many metro lines now serve Hongqiao and Beijing South stations?

Beijing West is a mixed station. There should be more HSR trains and less normal trains in Beijing West.

I guess Beijing should learn from Shenzhen and build underground HSR stations.

Yes the airport part is getting crowded too (even before the HSR station is).

Hongqiao: Line 2 and Line 10
Beijing South: Line 4
