My top skylines by 2025

1. Number one, with everything still going on, is and will still be NEW YORK.

2. Even if construction activity slow down, the second place will remain to HONG KONG.

3. and 4. Close race between SHANGHAI and SHENZHEN. (with Shanghai favorite now)

5. Even if is not booming anymore, is still the most balanced skyline, so fifth place go to CHICAGO.

6. I doubt the construction frenzy will get back in the next 10 years, so sixth place go to DUBAI.

7. and 8. Close race between GUANGZHOU and BEIJING. (with Guangzhou favorite now)

9. Really have high hopes for CHONGQING

10. Last place, go to TORONTO.

I've never seen a list on here I agree with more. Swap Chicago with Shenzen and you have my list. gj

I agree Uaarkson it is a very accurate list, at least in terms of size/aesthetics.

"Not anymore" isn't entirely accurate though, more like "not at the current moment".

There are already 3 potential supertalls by decades end that we know of plus a bunch of 150-250m projects that should start soon/have already started.

Toronto looks huge in that pic, it's just hard to grasp a scale of the buildings in pictures like that. Chi town of course looks huge in most pics...

This was originally posted in the Maps and Graphics thread. Just wanted to show how incredible Shanghai has grown. I know its the total opposite of this thread.

It shows however how fast a skyline can appear out of nowhere. Cities like nanning are on few people's lists of potential skylines to jump into the top 10 by 2025 and that although it's in the middle of a big boom, there are many cities that could propose a new cbd next year out of nowhere and build a decent skyline by the next decade and today we might have seen not a single proposal of it. Which certainly makes thinking about the future really intriguing and interesting.
