Brooklyn on its own can compete with many medium size North American cities in terms of skyline

Once those in that rendering get built I might have to put Brooklyn in my north American top 10.

YIMBY has a great breakdown of all the current LIC developments here...

And this slightly older 6sqft article gets into quite a bit of detail as well, and includes a great render by Zum3d...

Good find.
The 6sqft article might be the one I was trying to recall.

PublicSquare did this great video summarizing the massive boom in NYC and highlighting the new Central Park South/Billionaires Row skyline in particular.

Full version:

A version with just the renders and not all the other silly graphics:

And that doesn't even include huge projects like the Hudson Yards, One Vanderbilt (and the entire Midtown East rezoning), supertalls south of the ESB and north of 60th Street, or the whole new skylines forming in Brooklyn, Long Island City and New Jersey.

Props to SSP forumer Spantik for putting together these mock-ups of the future Downtown Los Angeles skyline with (just about) all of the developments currently in the pipeline. His work even got featured on LAist, in an article by Oren Peleg, a friend and former UCLA classmate of mine.

The article is a good primer for anyone new to the DTLA development scene or refresher for those who just can't keep them all straight, and also fills in the few projects that Spantik's diagram doesn't include, like the Herzog and De Mueron towers at 6th and Alameda and Bjarke Ingels' new ziggurat on the river.

Quote:
Someone a few pages back asked for a rendering of the future skyline, so here's what I've got. Even in its latest iteration I think im still missing a few things, and some of these projects may very well be dead (I just removed the so called Stationers Building for example). Blue = U/C Green = recently completed, Grey = Proposed.

Even doubling in size, LA still has a long way to go to truly compete on the world stage, although I think it could solidify a place in the top-5 in North America. The preponderance of single-family housing, plus the innate challenges of building in an active seismic zone with some volatile natural gas deposits might well forever stunt LA from growing flush with supertalls or even achieving the kind of density of comparably sized cities in Asia or Europe.

But it isgetting taller and denser, with an unceasing wave of overseas investment matched by Angelenos investing in themselves with the passing of a massive $120 billion transit measure. Soon I suspect the LA's skyline(s) will start to match the city's status as an Alpha World City. But really there's no place like it, and although I'm excited about many of the way it's changing, I'm also satisfied with some of the ways it will always stay the same.

Bogota, Colombia downtown (other parts of the city are also in the process of building highrises)

Shanghai, no?
There aren't so many supertalls but there are zounds of high-rises over 100 - 150 metres.
