In what respect? New York's skyline is architecturally diverse and historic. It has icons that Toronto could never replicate: Chrysler Building, Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, Woolworth Building, etc.

Number of skyscrapers in Toronto <1945: 0
Number of skyscrapers in New York <1945: 10

No other city can ever replicate New York in terms of architectural diversity because no other city can go back in time and recreate the glory days of New York's skyscrapers. Outside of Chicago, the rest of the world will only have height to compete on. And if Toronto hopes to compete on height and density, it's going to get trashed badly by Asia. Toronto will likely drop out of the Top 10 pretty soon. It's hard to sustain a world class skyline when all you have to offer is cookie cutter condos and jejune architecture.

New York is an irreplaceable "living museum" for the skyscraper.

I think that the best skyline is the city that has buildings with great architecture , because I really donīt like the skylines of the Chinese cities , because mostly of the buildings appears to be the same , and the best skyline will not be the city that has the tallests buildings. , that skyline of Paris is beautiful , it has no talls buildings but is beautifull.
I like more the skylines of America and Europe and some of Asia.
My top 20 with no order
Tokyo
New York
Jakarta
London
Paris
Moscow
Toronto
Mexico City
Hong Kong
Kuala Lumpur
Sydney
Mumbai
Dubai
Monterrey
Sao Paulo
Santiago de Chile
Riyadh
Frankurt
Miami
Cancún

What? You probably could argue that for example Shanghai has too much diversity in skyscraper design (make it look like Disneyland) and not enough boxes.

And if you're referring to those "commie blocks", then why did you put cities like Hong Kong or Sao Paolo on your list?

Well you canīt tell me that Hong Kong has not a great skyline
about Sao Paulo it has great parts , yeah I know it was a little error to put Sao Paulo on my list.
About Shangai , its the only skyline of China that I like , but I think that in 2025 the skyline of the Chinese cities will be hard to see by the high amount of smog.

I wasn't saying that Hong Kong hasn't got an awesome skyline (in fact, it's my favorite one). I was just pointing out that you obviously don't apply the same standards to all your city choices (or not-choices).

I don't think that we will see a higher level of air pollution in the future, at least in the developed part of the country (heavy industry moving westwards, new car registrations will decrease [growth mainly in the now developing part of the country] etc.). It's more the question, how much they're able to reduce the pollution.

BTW Hong Kong is China.

Well I always tought that Hong Kong was not from China , because has a different currency , legal system , and Flag. But I really wasnīt sure if is from China or not.

Technically its a part of China but its so different in so many ways that its a de facto individual country. Different education, economy, political system, and a different culture.

So far, we have 3 supertalls planned and a 250m condo starting soon with several other buildings over 150m on the way. We will look very much like that picture of Manila by 2025 with taller buildings.
