Calgarys skyline is not high, but the density is higher than in most north american cities. The concepts of most skyscrapers are awesome but i think the most beautiful skyscraper will be the bow, although it will not be the highest.

In North America, the current leaders are:

1 - New York City
2 - Chicago
3 - Toronto

But If Toronto keeps growing its current pace and Chicago remains stalled, then by 2025, Toronto can surpass Chicago.

Quantitatively speaking, it could happen before that. If what's currently at the proposal stage in Toronto gets built that will be all it needs to pass Chicago. That's a big 'if' though.

Miami will surge ahead of all other U.S. cities behind New York and Chicago and is almost in the same league with those cities U.S. with the international interest in Miami real estate and continued development.
You never know, Miami might be able to reel Chicago in one day. It was unthinkable before, but Miami could start getting within range by 2025 if Chicago doesn't start building again. No skyline is untouchable.

Miami has more momentum right now, a lot more and a lot of space to build without having to demolished anything.

I've heard other people say this. I wouldn't dare say it myself, but like you said, you never know. We're not Shenzen, but it sure is crazy down here for an American city. New projects keep popping up, others keep getting resurrected from the dead. I seriously can't believe what's happening, and it's happening right in front of me.

It's easier for an outsider to say it than someone from the 'home' team so I understand your hesitation. Even not being from Florida, I had reservations about saying it as that type of statement gets some people riled up. They're used to things being a certain way and can't imagine any one/any city closing the gap. Well Britain used to scoff at the New World as upstarts at look how that turned out. Nothing remains #1 forever.

Miami has been growing faster than Chicago for decades. That's not something likely to change any time soon. As nice as the Chicago skyline is, it's catchable.

It really ramped up here in Miami in the 21st century though. I've been a skyscraper enthusiast for decades, and there hasn't been anything quite like what happened to Miami in the last decade and it has continued into this decade. We have at least 3 supertalls planned right now, and at one point, it might have been 5 supertalls.

I'd reckon that even New York was catchable after 9/11. It took many years before the new WTC got its momentum. Hong Kong, Shanghai and even Chicago were really pushing forward. Fortunately we got this boom of über-luxury residential supertalls popping up (along with Hudson Yards and other mega projects.). So yes, if you don't build enough, others will catch up eventually.

I was rather surprised it took NY as long as it did to start building again. Unfortunately for Chicago, it doesn't have the same impetus for growth that cities like New York, Miami, Toronto, Melbourne, or London have. It's a big city, but it doesn't have the international profile that some of these other cities have. Most of its growth will have to be internally driven and domestically it has a lot of competition.

Miami is definitely a skyline to watch over the next decade. It's reached a scale and size where people are taking note. Lets keep our fingers crossed that it can realize its potential.

Quoted from the Shenzhen Projects Thread. Black means proposed, blue means under construction or site preperation. Btw. there are a few projects missing.

Some specifications on these buildings would be nice too. What are their heights? Which are under construction now and which are proposed? Which not under construction now have ground-breaking dates?

There is one I really like, but I can't even begin to pick it out to ask you about it?
