Shenzhen will rank very high by 2025. I would still put NYC or Hong Kong first. But Shenzen could underperform and it would still make into to the top 5. I can't believe people are still doubting is in the first place. Heck if another development as unique as Ping An is built it'd be hard not rank Shenzhen #1. I do think it'd be great if their were some new art deco or neo classical towers build in Shenzhen. But those days are over now though.

But Hong Kong development has been very quiet in the last years. No exciting supertalls or fillers. I would consider that Hong Kong might get overtaken by one of the upcoming tigers like Shenzhen or Guangzhou.

Cn tower provides a great focal point and with the sea of good looking skyscrapers you dont really need any supertalls.Toronto could use a little more variation in its building stock to differentiate it and put it on every skyscraper lovers map but it is without a doubt one of the best skylines in north america.

Only if Toronto could build a 400m+ building It's one of the few major cities in the world which doesn't have a 1000 footer building in u/c or prep

If you had told Torontonians in 1975 when the 298m First Canadian Place went up that we'd still not broken the 300m barrier 39 years later I bet no one would have believed it to be true.

A few months back the Oxford twin super talls (325m each) were shelved when the casino was nixed by City Council, but apparently it's still going to happen. Fosters is still the architect so I'm hoping the proposal will go forward without too many changes to the initial design.

It does impress despite no super tall, but it really would amp the skyline up a notch or 2 if Toronto built 2-3 buildings in the 350-450m range.

of course, you have to preserve history. Though if you zoomed out a bit you would be able to see the location of several new 200m+ towers. Noteworthy, though not overly special.

22 Thames

45 and 55 Broad Street

80 South Street (supertall) is on the opposite side of the island.
(old architect's design, it will be different)

Yeah i was meant to say that particular shot of new york wont change, but in other district/area of new york it will. Cos that shot frame all historical building so they wont demolish and make way for new one

About Shenzhen... I think that OVERALL it will have a skyline worthy of a top 3 by in the world by 2025. HOWEVER in terms of focal points, the most impressive skyline by 2025 will probably be the Pudong skyline in Shanghai. It will stay like that for quite a while with the only other focal points that COULD challenge it being Dubai Marina, (especially when pentominium, and DAMAC are completed), the Futian skyline in Shenzhen, the Guangzhou CBD, and Hudson Yards manhattan, or Central Park.

2025 is 11 years away... At present all the construction projects in Shenzhen (U/C or Prep) are at the latest to be completed by 2018. A LOT can happen between now and 2025, especially in a city like Shenzhen which proposes a supertall cluster every month. Looking at the map of current construction projects, you can see that the 2 sites where construction is most occuring is in Houhai and Futian:

Houhai will look great but will alone not be able to compete with most megacity CBD skylines in terms of density. HOWEVER in terms of scale yes!

Futian will look amazing BOTH in terms of density and Scale the development is really well packed together with great numbers of fillers over 200m in height. There is also development around Futian, and in Luohu with the majority of these developments all being supertalls.

All these projects are under construction as we speak or in prep phase. It really is amazing. There are a few other projects going on in Longgan district and close to shenzhen port.

When I think of Shenzhen in 2025, I will see all these projects done, with approved projects of the future more being located in Qianhai. Development will shift towards Qianhai and a new skyline focal point will be created as opposed to adding to the focal points that already exist. I firmly believe however that there will be Very large scale development in Baishizhou as well as additional development in Luohu, and North Futian! Watch out for Shenzhen the future skyscraper ocean!
