I heard it's so bad that they are affraid to show it. They will build the building at night so no one can see the design.

since Ping An might get its spire cut, this might be only 600m+ in the end. Considering the only thing we knew was, they plan to build the tallest pure office building.

They will assume, that Ping An will be 660m. And as you know Dubai, they don't build a ''cheater''. When they build the tallest, they will build the far tallest, so 700m+.
Not like Changsha City Tower with 838m, where they said: "Oh we will soon have the tallest tower in the world", but it is juts 10m taller than Burj Khalifa

Also hoping for 700m+, with its distance to Dubai Marina, it has to be really tall, so it can tower over them even in distance from the shots from the oceanside.

Has dubai any hight restrictions? I'm not sure so i'm asking.
When not it's a a good argument that they will build really 660m+.
Not like for example shenzhen quinhai where a released building could be cut hundreds of meters down...

Yes, there are height restrictions, related mostly to airport aproach corridors. There were two towers of 330 and 379 meters.that were cut to just 200 meters ....... too bad for them the corridors were later moved again and now you can build taller there again

BTW, those particular restrictions were for a totally different area, 20 - 25 km away.

I hope that doesn't happen, it's one of the most appealing elements of the design. :S

I totally agree...
I think it's kinda strange, that there are no news or new information about it.

On my next visit to Dubai I will go to its plot and try to see what's going on there! If anyone else can snap an update of this plot will be appreciated!

That's a very good idea!
I have another: go also to DMCC and force them to give us renders and more detailed information.
Say them their public relations makes millions of people sick

Hahahahahaha I wish it is that easy Funny story I was in JLT 2 weeks ago visiting a friend with my brother when I told him please give me 10 minutes to check the plot of this tower ... I went running to the northern edge of JLT but I totally lost the plot ... I checked wikimapia and found out that I was standing on the parking of Gold Crest Views 2 looking down towards Jumeirah Island Heights but with no avail!! I was very frustrated from getting lost and believe me it isn't that easy to figure out where you are and where the tower is when you are on foot in JLT!

LOL...indeed funny story!
But i can understand you whether i were not in dubai before.
I'm living in a little quiete city at the "edge" of germany, in fact it's the most western part of germany. And my house is standing in a block of about 50 others with about 5 streets...i've lost myself there too o.k it was dark and i was drunk...
But without google maps i think i were lost almost everywhere...perhaps the next time you make a print of this area with arrows like an old treasure map.

The real question is how could you walk outside. Dear god the heat is so terrible there. I couldn't stay outside for more than ten minutes when I visited.

Dude getting drunk and walking around the city will cause you trouble in UAE No after this mistake I know now how to get to this plot, Germany is on my bucket list of countries to visit so who knows I might as well get lost there too

Well you must have visited it between April and October, cz in February, the weather is beautiful, and walking outside is a bliss, most of the days

I'm german and regularly get lost in my own home town area. These towns all combined don't even have a 100.000 people in it. Yet in cities like Shanghai or nanjing, I don't get lost at all, because I can orientate myself with skyscrapers and metro lines. In Germany everything looks the same to me.

Depends on where you are. There are many beautiful cities like Freiburg, Heidelberg, Cologne, Berlin, Dresden and a lot of little towns with its own unique style.
But Essen, Duisburg and the "Ruhr Gebiet" i agree with you, many of this cities looks similar...my hometown compared to others around too.
