Well, I guess I should show pictures of the interior to further explain my dislike for the Green Line:

Well, this is not exactly the inside, but as you can see, the Green line doe not have low floors. You must climb stairs in order to reach the main level of the trolley. This makes normal boarding take longer, and whenever a wheelchair bound person needs to get on the trolley, it becomes a 10 minue ordeal. First, the trolley has to pull up next to a contraption. The disabled person gets on the contraption, and then the trolley driver has to move the contraption inorder to get the person in, and then reset the position of the contraption. This is then all repeated when the person want to get off.

The newer trolleys are better about having lower floors, so there is less of an impact on the amount of time it takes to get on/off the train. However, they are not low enough, so it is still impossible for wheel chair bound individuals to get on the trolley.

Fantastic thread!

This new tramway was once an arterial road?
Lots of space either side, seems to be a developers haven now! That is, looks low density around the tracks.

Thanks for the pics.
How extensive is the tram network in Barcelona?

I think the idea of not having low-floors for the disabled {and elderly} is more than an inconvience but an absolute disgrase! In this day and age I thought we had gotten beyond the idea that the disabled where treated as second class citizens. Accessible or not , if buses can be made complete low floor than there is no excuse as to why ALL trams can be.
Because of that I rate it -10. Absolutly unacceptable.

Barcelona Tram Network is 21 Km long.
In www.tramvia.org there a lot of information and photos (Catalan & Spanish)
In www.trambcn.com (official site) Catalan-Spanish-English.

BARCELONA | Tramways

I open this thread dedicated to the tramways in Barcelona, Spain.

Apparently, no one seemed to remember to open one.

To start with, one of the freakiest videos I´ve got to find.

Japanese fans came to Montesa stop (that´s NOT in the center, not even in Barcelona proper), to film this vid about the consequences of an accident on the rails and pavement.

Only the Japanese can do it.
