Great pictures of The Home Depot Center (aka Victoria Street). The best soccer specific stadium in the US.

Also, Carson may seem all diverse and everything, but truely it is a very split-up city. Like the Northeast part is mostly black people and just recently have Mexicans moved in, the part near Stephen M. White Middle School and the library is where the Filipinos are, over there on Water Street near Wilmington Ave. is where most of the white people live, and everywhere else is mostly just a sort of mixture between Mexicans, white people, and Filipinos. But Carson's still a nice city, but it just doesn't have anything to do in. It's more like an business/industrial center with a bunch of people in between. And our mall is a joke, but thankfully they're rebuilding it. But no matter what, I love Carson and can't wait to see how it'll look after the rebuilding of the mall and the new Downtown Carson. |

Carson has some positive things on the horizon. In addition to the mall renovation, the same owner has plans for more shopping/restaurants on the other side of the freeway. This is assuming that the NFL doesn't decide to locate a team there which seems unlikely now. I think I read that there are two hotels that were approved to be built near the Home Depot Center. IIRC both hotels will have restaurants. Hopefully, there will be a movie theater as well. Carson must be one of the largest towns in the country that doesn't have a single movie theater. None are really that close by either.
Also, it's true that while Carsons population is diverse it's neighborhoods are mostly segregated. This is true of most areas in LA. Carson is still better than most. It's not true that there aren't many black people in Carson outside of the north. I'm black and I don't live in north Carson. The area where I live in south Carson near Scottsdale is probably 25% black, 45% hispanic, 20% asian, and 10% white. That's a pretty good mixture. A little too few white people, but still pretty good. |
