Well, I am glad you took the bite on that. I am not talking about a building reminiscent to the Taipei101 which certainly has the Chinese architectural influence. Sorry to say but Taipei101 looks a bit ackward and out of place.
It is not hard for you to imagine what I am talking about. I am neither hoping for embodiment of 100% traditional Korean style architecture nor the futuristic free style of the buildings we often see in the UAE into the new building. What I would like to see is a building that is modern but gives off the aura that is unique to Korea. In the way I see it, the city of Seoul lacks a unique style or the Charisma that it badly needs.

Please, tell them to hire me. I can come up with something better than that boring. In another softer terms, I believe they can come up with something more interesting than that.

I just saw a different close up render of this new design, and it looks much better. It's sleek and slightly dull except for the fact that it's 640 M. This new design suits the height well IMO.

true...I really want the supertalls being planned in Seoul to have a bit of a Korean look...I'm sure it will be a clean-cut high-tech design.

I read an article about New Seoul City Hall now being built, and there they say its curved line was adopted from the beauty of curved line which applied to the eaves of traditional rooftop houses, ceramic wares, sleeves of Hanbok, etc.. actually many scholars say such beuty of curved line is one of traditional beauty elements.
I guess such embodiment/realization of traditional beauty is possible plentifully into new modern architectures..

but some renderings at the previous pages are about the canceled one. I don't know why those canceled renderings are displayed at this thread.

looks good so far, but they should let out the tall spire, and make the roof taller

ey korea 2002, is that new tower still 640 metres in height???

It will then become tallest one in asia.

BTW is shanghai centre 650 metres high or 580 metres? According to skyscraperpage, the diagram show 650 but it says its 580 which is misleading.

summary:

Sangam DMC Landmark Tower: 640 m (as its written on the bar on top of the page)

Shanghai centre: 580 m

New design will look shorter with spire on top decreasing the roof height. But hopefully they don't change mind on the render again.

asiaeconomy.co.kr 2008-05-30 18:38

on this article,, the selected project was named "Seoul Lite"
and planned to start construction next year..
and Seoul city authorities put condition about supplementation/improvement on the design,
