One day tourists will come to NYC just to walk down the High Line.

They already do.

As an outsider, I kind of bemoan that the high line corridor has essentially turned into a playground for the rich (as has much of NYC in general), I have to admit that it'll be cool to think that the High Line is become, more-or-less a very scenic architectural walking tour.

A few years ago when High Line was relatively new and not the tourist attraction it is today, I would bring outsiders there for the views of the skyline. Now it seems that the buildings are the main attraction and the tourists rarely even notice the skyline anymore.

Great late job by Zaha Hadid.

Does anyone know what those panels are made of? Is it polished/sand blasted lead-coated copper or something? That grey colour looks beautiful!

Iconic 3D cladding nearing completion at Zaha Hadid's 520 West 28th

Quote:
Recent images from our Forum reveal the progress at the site of 520 West 28th Street in New York City, where the installation of the Zaha Hadid Architects-designed tower's unique 3D cladding elements is moving along nicely. Located alongside the ever-popular High Line, the distinct 11-storey L-shaped residential tower is set to transform its immediate surroundings, bringing a bold new look to Chelsea.
