We hope there will be no postponement for T3A but it seems that this project will not be commissioned until June of 2017, while the original date of commissioning is April 27 of 2017.

The latest satellite image of CKG in high resolution is available at http://www.digitalcq.com/. (Chongqing Public Service Platform for Geographical Information, in Chinese)
(Image captured on August 23, 2016.)

You can browse the data by following the steps shown below:
1. CLICK THIS LINK to go to the public platform.
2. Click "x"(cross) to close the pop-up window.
3. Click the button (meaning "Vector") on the right of tool box and a dropdown menu will show up,
and then click the button (meaning "Satellite Image").
4. Enjoy the high-resolution image provided by Pleiades.

Love it, go Chongqing.

.......

I honestly hate to say it, but it looks like Chengdu is not only copying Chongqing's design with their new Tianfu airport; but they also want to one-up Chongqing.

Time to start planning more capacity if CQ wants to become the #4 air hub and remain there.

Reported by Chongqing Airport on Nov. 2:
At the end of this year, the west apron of Terminal 3A ([CONFIRMED!] Stands 301-322, as shown in the diagram below) will be commissioned. (Apron ONLY, the terminal won't be put into use this year)

Awesome news

Seems like these will be domestic gates, since A380 (which most likely is only international) is on the other side not commissioned.

Too bad the terminal won't be open soon, I fly out of CKG internationally Nov 26. Looks like it will still be the cramped, old style T1.

Good news about T3 nonetheless.

Interesting news.

Finland-Chongqing airline to be temporarily suspended from Jan.-April next year

CHONGQING(CQNEWS)

According to Finnair a few days ago, to facilitate the training of A350 aircraft pilots, Finnair’s Helsinki-Chongqing air line will be temporarily cancelled from January 11th, and will resume service on May 3rd, 2017.

Finnair will successively receive Airbus A350 planes next year, and with the expansion of the fleet, Finnair needs to provide training to pilots flying these planes, so the deployment of pilots will be impacted. A Finnair representative expressed his sincere apology to passengers for the troubles brought by the temporary cancellation of flights in Chongqing.

For passengers who have already booked tickets for a flight in Chongqing during the temporary cancellation period, Finnair or its booking agents will contact the passengers, provide suitable alternative routes and deal with matters on rebooking and refunding. this sucks, but on the bright side - maybe this means FinAir will send A350 to Chongqing when flights resume in May.

Just seems weird to cancel a route for 4+ months due to 'training'.

From these pictures, it seems clear that Terminal 1 of the New Mexico City Airport will look very similar to Chongqing's T3A from aerial view, a big X-shaped building. Even the shape of the road leading to the terminal for departures and arrivals looks very similar from that perspective. Mexico City terminal will be a bit bigger that Chongqing's, though. Perhaps this is not a coincidence and it only reflects the current trend in big airports design.

Cheers

Seattle has: Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Taipei, and just added service to Shenzen. Those are on Delta, Hainan, Eva, and Xianmen Air. Chongqing would be another great destination addition. Maybe another Hainan route? Maybe another new airline for Sea-Tac? Sea-Tac is in process of expanding its international arrivals facilitiy, which will open in 2019. Of the Hub airlines at Chongqing, China Southern and Air China will both have a few 787's in service by then.

Vancouver has... Holy sh*t Vancouver has a lot of Chinese destinations: Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Qingdao, Hong Kong, Taipei, Kunming, Nanjing, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Shenyang, Zhengzhou, and Xianmen. Those are on Air Canada, Air China, Beijing Capital Airlines, Cathay Pacific, China Airlines, China Eastern, China Southern, Eva Air, Sichaun, and Xianmen... whew... Same deal as Seattle, but Vancouver is set up to land A380's. Air China and China Southern are both hub airlines at Chongqing, and have other routes going to Vancouver. Might be a great addition to the already robust destination list for Vancouver.

China’s Hainan Airlines is applying to the US Department of Transportation (DOT) to open routes this year from Chongqing to Los Angeles in the first quarter and New York JFK in the second quarter. The carrier plans to operate these two routes 8X- or 9X-monthly using a Boeing 787.
