???

I think given Chongqing topography I see why Chongqing does build tall and should build taller. (No space)

Simply amazing that the entire Jeifangbei City Center would fit in the footprint of T3 and there's still more room. OMG!!!

I was talking about the runways lining up right over the city center.

That is far enough away to not be a concern I think. But that terminal is massive compared to downtown. Wow!

ya, that's a very long distance away (downtown to the airport) and the planes are really high when you're on the ground in Jeifangbei [I think they are still at least 4000 feet up IF they even come by Jeifangbei]. So no real issues unless CQ decides to build a tower taller than say 2500 feet. ..

According to AIP China, it's not going to be commissioned until July 20.

Actually, the airport is built on land much higher than most of the city, it sits more than 200 meters above the river. Most skyscrapers in Chongqing are built at an elevation that is 100-200 meters lower than the runways. The city center is below 300 meters while the runways are above 400 meters. Even fairly close to the airport you can build skyscrapers because of this.

You can se an elevation map for the city on Open Streetmap and see for yourself, it is the bicycle map that has terrain data.
