No. Firstly, it's not realistic for CKG to surpass CAN due to the shortage of a huge base airline company which is essential to account for a large proportion in the market and bolsters some routes such as the ones in good demand and the intercontinental ones departing from CKG. Secondly, the positions are different: PEK, PVG/SHA, CAN stand abreast in the same level, and CKG lies in the lower level.......

Rail transit planning for new terminal of Jiangbei Airport

  • New Line 10 will connect T2 and T3;
  • APM will connect all terminals (T1, T2A, T2B, T3A, T3B);
  • Line 3 (currently linked with T2B) will not extend to T3;

It sure has changed a lot since I visited it in October 2010 - not even 3 years ago.

Back then Chongqing used to be one of the most crowded airports I've ever encountered with an aging terminal building and non-existing transport links.

According to the report of Chongqing Urban Planning Bureau(CQUPB), Chongqing will construct THE SECOND AIRPORT which will be brought into operation after the number of annual passengers of Chongqing Jiangbei Int'l Airport (CKG) reaches 50,000,000 to divert passengers away from CKG so that then CKG will not exceed the capacity.
